Do Webb and Marv struggle as test riders?

Recommended Posts

This does a National Ranked rider suck is getting out of hand. All these guys are Greek Gods compared to the weekend warrior. Some just got it dialed and some never had it as dialed. I was rewatching moto 2 and I could of sworn I heard Kenny passing Webb and a very echoing voice was saying "told ya she would"

Barcia's bike looks fine, he had a great Moto 2, was in 2nd for most of it.

Yes, in fact all the top riders suck.  They got there through nepotism, in fact most 7-11 workers could lap the factory riders.  !OR! Webb winning an SX championship and MM getting strong at the last 2 races indicates their reflexes are currently honed towards stiff SX suspension and the muscle memory needs to readjust before they can provide valid input on setup.

so I guess Barcia was a shitty test rider for Yamaha, now he's enlightened?

Barcia made the best of a bad situation.  @GBow521 has also said that Barcia is considered one of the best test riders now, due to all of the testing time he put in on the Yamaha factory team, working with the engineer from Japan.

That totally explains why both Marv and Webb's outdoor bikes look like shit but Barcia's doesn't.  Not wasting my time reading your dickish nonsense anymore, so I suppose you did me a favor.  Thanks!

So if he stayed on Yamaha another year he would be putting up the same results?

Probably Aldon burnout. I posted last week that I heard on Pulp that Webb is leaving the burnout factory after this season. Wasn't there something discussed recently about the KTM 250 guys not training there anymore?

Yes.  @GBow521 said that the TLD manager asked for permission to move the team to a different trainer.

On the Star 450, absolutely.  You're being a deliberate douche as well.  Why would you pretend that Barcia magically had access to what the Star 450 is now, but just couldn't figure out how to get it there?

Apparently you missed the part awhile back where Bowman told us that Webb repeatedly asked the US Yamaha team to just make his bike like the Star 450 he raced in the USGP / MXoN.  They were either unwilling or incapable of getting there.  That doesn't indicate a &%$#@!ing thing about Barcia.

Not wasting my time reading your nonsense anymore either.

Who said Barcia was a top rider?

All kidding aside, I see it as something like this.  Two brothers my son's age that are friends of the family are very fast riders.  Local Pro, weren't too far behind Justin Hill when he came here last summer.  There was a time when they were being weened off the parents income and going through life where they didn't race.  After a while they pitched in together and bought an old RM125.  When they came back, 1 was as fast as ever, it was like he never quit.  The other brother was slower than me, seriously I was passing him on the track.  Big James said the same thing about Bubba and Malcolm, except that Malcolm was the one that didn't miss a beat after a layover.  The list goes on and on, a 60 year old friend of mine who's name has been in the magazines for vet world championship results had surgery last fall and was very slow 2 months ago and thought about quitting. I heard last Sunday he was smoking the youngsters.  Some people have this muscle memory that adapts to whatever circumstances while others can take months to adjust.

OK, So Cooper asking Yamaha to make his bike like Star 450 makes Barcia a better test rider, got it.

Just like Cooper, Barcia is a better rider from the bike change, not from from being a better test rider.

It sure seems to me that the KTM team has a hard time adjusting to outdoor settings, I've been saying this for years now they are focused on supercross, outdoors to them is a second thought. They aren't prepared, it's a little sad but not surprising.

Yes exactly.  I get the impression that their philosophy starts with a setup that's too stiff for outdoors.  Webb isn't the level of test rider that can fix that.

I don't remember if Marv is considered good at it, but I've noticed him struggle early in MX before as well.  In 2019, Marv ended up reverting to the '18 chassis IIRC.

Sounds like Moosecan is considered a good test rider.  So I'll assume he hasn't been given enough time yet.

M1G and Mxaniac can suck my balls.  Barcia is considered the best test rider on the Austrian teams.

That’s been Rogers logic since his Suzuki days. He gets a new toy and makes them test and use it

Marvin should be on the exact setup he finished the season up with last year.

Moosecan is a decent test rider, but you can’t come off supercross and expect to win with only 2 weeks of testing new outdoor components.

Barcia is a good test rider, but his testing benefits him and nobody else.

No, half the thread are useless comments like yours, that make no attempt to actually discuss the topic.  Gotta click that thread though and get your self righteous indignation documented!  How dare I create a topic that you don't care about!

Barcia's testing ability only benefits him.  Makes sense.
