Difference Between Rider vs Race vs Static vs Free Sag

Recommended Posts

What is the difference between rider-sag, race-sag, static-sag and free-sag?

My understanding is:

1. Rider Sag - The amount the seat height decreases when a person is sitting on a stationary bike.

2. Race Sag - The amount the seat height decreases when a person is sitting on a moving bike.

3. Static Sag - The amount the seat height decreases when no one is sitting on the bike

4. Free Sag - No idea what this is

Is this accurate?

No way to measure this accurately as it's in motion and the value is constantly changing

As Indy Rider suggested, both the terms rider and race sag describe the same thing,

as well as free and static sag, different terms meaning the same measurement.
