Maxima Castor 927?

Recommended Posts

Yes but you better be on the gas to burn it off. Do not go any leaner than 40:1 with it either.  I've used it for years in my race bikes makes great power. But like i said if you're not on the gas it will splooged all over. This is my 96 cr250 at 32:1

This is what Maxima sent me on ratio recommendation.

I would go with 40:1 as a starting point. The big bore bikes typically run at a lower RPM than smaller cc bikes, so 40:1 should be good.

I contacted maxima about running 927 oil in my sons sx 50.  They recommended NOT to run it and if I did to mix somewhere between 20:1 to 32:1.  I ran it 24:1 first, then 32:1 and it was fine.  Only issue I noticed is it makes jetting a little more stringent.  When I ran super M @ 40:1 my jetting was spot on.  With 927, I had to go up on the main (90 to 95), leaner on the needle(W4 to W9), and leaner on the pilot (55 to 52).  Weird but that's what it took to get good transitions between carb circuits.  Ive since burned most of the oil up and will be switching back to M or K.

I did a lot of research on oils several years ago after I was having fouling problems running Golden Specto as recommended by a dealer.  I can't remember all of the details of all the research but bottom line ... I switched to Maxima Super M for enduro riding 100+ cc.  What I remember is this ... full synthetic on small race bikes running high engine temps at 20:1 / 32:1.  Super M for big bikes at lower rpms and mid engine temps as in woods riding 40:1 / 50:1 ... 927 Castor for lower rpms and running cooler engine temps.  The engine temp has a lot to do with the oil condensing properly for good lubrication.

I use it in my Vintage MX bike, along with a number of my racing friends. Upon an end of season teardown, my friend’s was super clean, which prompted me to switch. I use 36:1. I was cautioned against running full synthetic since these old bikes have cast iron sleeves which, unlike nikasil liners are more likely to develop rust spots around the ports if left sitting for a while. And, yes. It smells “right” for a vintage bike.

I've beeen running Maxima Castor 927 in all of my 2 strokes for years.  There is no carbon buildup like was normal for castor oils in the past.  I also use 2 ounces per gallon of Maxima Octane Booster per gallon which prevents the oil from separating from gas at low temperatures.  Highly recommended!

I just rebuilt a KX85 for a customer and the carbon was everywhere and had crystallized. Bean oil is a hold over from the 60's Gokart days. Also bean oil would mix with fuels like alcohol or nitro. i don't recommend this oil there are too many good oils out there. And as for SPOOGE they are two strokes, run one quart of oil in your car and it will make super horsepower just before it blows up.
