Lol good advice then.

I think I am pretty much limited to vee rubber 19" trials tire for my current rim. vMR-308 I think.

Sorry for the thread hijack but thanks for the advice.

There's also the Shinko Trail Pro 255 Radial Trials Tire available in 19" from RMATV. However, check my review of the product there (TOM in WA). Some mixed results/reviews to say the least. :D

Kinda left things open.......

 

I knew there would be fallout from such a statement!  ? Everyone thinks there riding spot is the toughest until proven otherwise. I simply wanted to share my turf and added what is already posted about McNutt:

 

 

Blue Mountain, Maple Ridge

Blue Mountain in Maple Ridge is to off-road motorcycling what the North Shore of Vancouver is to mountain biking. Miles of tight challenging trails built in the coastal rain forest just a few minutes east of Vancouver provide a haven for the experienced off roader, especially convenient for many who live & work in the Big City, and want to ride close to home. 

The Blue Mountain trail network is stewarded by the Blue Mountain Motorcycle Club (BMMC), a non-profit society founded in 2003. The BMMC is working hard on Blue Mountain to establish a permanent staging area for off road motorcyclists, and to expand our trail network to include more novice friendly trails.  We strive to work with Government  Blue Mountain Motorcycle Club promotes the safe, responsible, sustainable use of off-road motorcycles at one of the best to ride in the world: Blue Mountain (also known as McNutt). We work closely with local and provincial government agencies and and other interested stake holders to responsibly manage this awesome trail resource, in order to help you have a place to ride in the Lower Mainland region of BC today and into the future. 

Advanced /Expert level trail riders call this area Heaven. Excellent practice area for Masters/Pro & Expert riders, also trials bikes due to the overall high difficulty of the trails. Rated "as-hard or harder" than the Romaniacs Hard Enduro terrain by Tony G. from New Zealand, after a day of riding & punishment.

Our trail network includes over 100 kms of trails for the dirt bike enthusiast, geared towards the more fit & experienced rider/enduro racer, with many obstacles such as rock steps, roots/rocks, steep climbs and downhills can make for an extreme riding experience, and is guaranteed to test your riding skills and endurance.

THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDED RIDING AREA FOR BEGINNERS, FAMILIES, SMALL KIDS (OR PEOPLE THAT CRY EASILY!). WE RECOMMEND THE NICKLEMINE RIDING AREA AS MORE APPROPRIATE INSTEAD.

Directions from Vancouver: head east on Highway 7, turn north (left) onto 240th St, turn east (right) on Dewdney Trunk Road, then north (left) onto 256th St. Parking is at the end of 256th St, along the side of the road (do not block the gate!). DO NOT RIDE UP AND DOWN 256th St AFTER YOU PARK, HEAD DIRECTLY NORTH PAST THE GATE AT A QUIET PACE. Sandman trail entrance is on the right, approx. 1 km north of the gate. 

Directions from the USA: There are two way to get to Blue Mountain: 1. from I-5, 2. from Lynden/Sumas, depending where you are coming from.

1. From I-5: From Bellingham, take the I-5 north, cross at the Pacific Hwy / Hwy 15 border crossing (note: will need your passport!), turn right on 96th Ave which will lead you north over the Golden Ears Bridge. Head east on Hwy 7,  follow directions above from Vancouver.

2. From Sumas Border crossing: head north on Hwy 11 (Canadian side), turn left on Hwy 7 (in Mission), heading west towards Vancouver: turn left at the 240th St crossing (approx 20 km from Mission). See directions above to riding area parking.

The BMMC greatly appreciates every single volunteer effort to help keep trails clear. Always carry a handsaw, cut out face-slappers well back from the trail, cut out or throw off small trees that blow down.

I almost started feeling sorry for your rear tire.  You must go through them pretty quick. Riding was insane, loved it.  Looks hard, even without the trees.?:devil:

Knobbies I went through like crazy, this trials tire is amazingly tough. All the abuse it has suffered and it's 95% of what it was when I bought it. This tire will last me at least till next spring. I have 800km on the new Berg now since I bought it earlier this year and that Pirelli was on since new. 

And yes did I ever mention that the trees up are alive and vindictive....they jump right out in front of you when you are trying to maneuver a tough single track.

Erzberg tire choices....   hint .. trials tire not top choice...  why?   :excuseme:    I did watch Man and Machine  last night and noticed some knobbies used that were cut in the middle knobs.. I didn't see any trials at all from what I could see.

Heading into Dr Demento's which is a real nasty trail at the moment, all cut up with deep mud rutts, roots and rock all on a nasty incline.

Great pics buddy. Really captured the look and feel of the area. My feet are all white and shriveled up just imagining coming up from Socal to ride in the wetness. The riding looks amazing up there!! Big +1 on the trials tire, but let's not get that started here ?

Just a quick video of a section that is a favourite to some of my single track loving comrades. One of the few fast areas where you can get up and out of 2nd gear. The 3rd quarter is a bit knarly to do fast but if you have your act together and pick the right lines you can rock it.
