Polaris Predator 90 Parts?

Recommended Posts

Got my niece an '05 Predator 90. It runs excellent, but the chassis is a little beat. Theres play in the front spindles, probably from lack of grease. The front tires look like / \ this when she's riding it. The front shocks also need replacing or rebuilding.

Can I rebuild those front shocks?

What parts will fit?

I know that many of these little quads of many different brands share the same parts. Are the Sportsman and Scrambler 90 parts the same?

Some people list parts and state it will fit the 50 and the 90. What 50 parts will fit?

I'm going to order a new air filter, clutch belt, and brake shoes for her.

I'm also going to try to find some plastic that has the mounting tabs intact, and a new set of brake cables because the ones on it are a little stretched out.

I've got the throttle screw in, and I'm going to check to see if the CDI jumper is installed, and if not, install one.

Are there any weak spots to look for on this little machine? I see someone reinforced the weld on the rear part of the frame already.

Any help would be appreciated! I'm pretty new to the whole CVT transmission thing.

We have a predator 90 and it has been bulletproof. The only issue we have had with it was the stator went out this spring. Parts are pretty easy to find, just go somewhere like Ronnie's.com and find an OEM microfiche to get the factory part number then toss it in google and see what comes up. Our kick start is pretty stiff and doesn't stow by itself, it rarely gets used though with the e-start.

The little wheelers are a hoot and are quite trail worthy right out of the box. Hope your niece has hours of fun!

Hey there. Yeah! I can actually answer a couple of your questions! ? First, your kick start is a simple fix... remove the cvt cover and and clean your kick start spring with carb cleaner. Then get some dry lube like grafite and spray the crap out of that spring. You will be good to go, simple fix! As far as the suspension... maybe polaris might be able to swap around parts but be very careful about other brands not fitting at all with polaris. They are very specific length front shocks that DO NOT interchange with ANYTHING but another polaris...even aftermarket long travel set ups will specific to your make and model. The predator front end is single A-arm, I just sold a predator roller chasis with a "dual A-arm" front end. They are pricey but I think you can find a "DC" setup if you search the right mini quad forums. This is a awesome set-up for your quad. Right now your wheel-base is soooo narrow, sketchy! I gusset ALL my sons race quad frames! (Apex 90, DRR 90, Drr Stage 6 70) The predator frame is weak around the upper rear shock mount, as with the other makes of mini's not just polaris. It is off-set and has a tendency to break when your kid starts gapping big doubles. Might not be something you have to worry about yet but the frames do break... my son is 9 and he weights 60# and broke his DRR frame in 3 places during a race! It is hard letting your kid run WFO with a Stage 6 70 mod while jumping a broke frame! LOL! As I see you are in NY, I can help you with a few questions on CVT tuning, most of it is just sitting down and trying roller weights. Meaning I don't care to give you some tips because I won't be seeing you on the start line...unless you run Nationals? LOL! Are you planning on racing MX? Or racing at all? Anyway, I'm hardly an expert on these mini's but I have several of hours fooling with them... message me anytime, I will see if I can help! Clint

p.s. this sure is on an old post! hope you even get this reply

Thanks for the reply, even if it is late!!!! ? As it turns out, I'm not seeing much of the kid these days, due to circumstances that are out of my control.

I did mange to get a new set of spindles for it, as well as a tear down of the brake system to clean, lube, and tighten everything up. She went for a few rides and kept begging me to make it go faster!

Shes not going to race probably, ever, and I'm not sure she's even getting to ride anymore, but the intro to mini-quads was an eye opener. Little bikes are soooooo much easier to tinker with and maintain.

And I've just got to say, the DRRs are nastiest little quads I've seen in my life! Makes you wonder what the equivalent would be in an adult quad.

The little 2-stroke 90s are sooooo much better then the new four-stroke 90s polaris is pushing out.
