i beleive its a 2001.. thing rips

Ya, It's a tough little motor that can make big power.

KTM made a huge mistake when they went to their own designed motor.

The new Husqvarna CR50 uses a similar engine by the same company

Is Beta and Morini Franco Motori under the same company?

Ok, so I dont have a manual for it and was curious about the auto clutch. What do I need to know about it. I have heard the KTM version to be very troublesome.

Tenth digit in the VIN will tell you the year.

I going to guess that it is a Morini Franco S-5 engine = Air cooled, ignition cover clips on, Carb bolted to the cylinder. If so it has a two shoe clutch. which is ok for it's intended use like trail riding for a 50# person. other than that an aftermarket clutch might be what you need. Just dependes on your plans for the bike.

You have described the bike to a tee. Can you elaborate on the 2 shoe. Seems very chainsaw ish.....

First, is it a Jr. or a Sr.? Jr.= drum brake on front and a 14mm carb. Sr.= will have a disc front brake and a 19mm carb.

As for the clutch. you can stay with the two-shoe clutch if it's going to be a trial rider. I think KTM had a three-shoe conversion kit at one time, OR you might be able to find a stock disc clutch out of a late model (1999/2000) KTM pro sr. as the last two years with the MFM S5-GS came with one. Then there is the aftermarket clutches out there. Call Bob as he can give you all the info on what clutches are still available for the MFM S-5 engine. http://www.bobscycleslem.com/contact.php
