yfz 450 throttle problem

Recommended Posts

Does your problem happen when you're riding the bike, or when you just whack the throttle while it's in neutral? You have the same jetting I have (I'm at seal level) and mine is very crisp when riding, but will hesitate when I whack the throttle in neutral.

Mine does it all the time when in neutral, but that doesn't bother me. But when I am cruising around slow in first gear with the clutch released/engaged.....I can sometimes stab it and it will fall on its face. Like I've said previously, I can certainly learn to ride around this, but I'd rather do what I can to improve it in case there is ever that critical time I need it to be fixed.

the power bowl is made with an adjustable leak screw, you might also have fubard the throttle position sensor when messing with the carb, i have never done this but have seen a lot of other forums with same problem and the tps was the cause. dealer can fix it i think.

will the yfz benfit from unpluging the tps cause i know sparks offers a tps block off :bonk:

I bought the Sparks TPS bypass and honestly I wouldn't bother. I saw no difference whatsoever. I took it off the week of Thanksgiving and we went to Durhamtown that Monday and although I've learned to roll the throttle it actually seemed better without the bypass. I did notice that later in the day as I grew tired I started stabbing the throttle way to hard and it got scary at times on some of the bigger jumps using the throttle to correct myself in the air, but I am a rookie.

I've read alot about the issue from above and it has something to do with the AP adjustment and some have changed the leak jet to a smaller size. I honestly don't know if these adjusments help I've just read some posts on other sites and they seem to all push to this area.
