jumping... always landing on the shifter/brake

Recommended Posts

when I jump, and sometimes normal riding, my feet keep doing forward and when I land my toe hits the shifter and does a rough, no clutch, downshift everytime I land. sometimes I also land on the rear brake a little bit too... why?

my shifter is higher than the footpeg so I can fit my boot under it, sometimes its hard to pull up from 1st to 2nd (my foot doesnt bend upwards that much..) the other gears are fine.

I fear that if I moved the shift lever down that my boots will always pop it up a gear when im not expecting it.

Grip the bike with your knees when you ride and jump. your feet sound like they are flapping around. Also keep control of the bars and try to use correct body position when you ride and jump. Ask someone to videotape you and try to evaluate what's going wrong.

Hope this helps.

Sharpen your pegs. It is invaluable to have sharp pegs because they really help keep your feet on them.:busted:

I have sharpened the right one razor sharp with an angle grinder, didnt notice anything except my boot getting ripped up faster and they got dull again after a few months.

Im pretty sure I already do grip the bike with my knees, maybe not enough thought. I think my shifter might be 1 or two teeth too high... im gonna "fix" it tonight and see if it helps.

there is videos on youtube (coryf1989) that show me jumping (trail jumping, not track jumps, tables, or gaps)

thanks guys.
