anybody using the EVS RS7 or Vision knee brace?

Recommended Posts

Been considering the EVS knee braces ... either the RS7 or the Vision.

Aside from the $65 dollar price difference - anybody here have experience positive or negative with either product?

I know I shouldn't be so price sensitive - knees don't heal easily - but I'm not in a luxurious job environment at the moment. (or I'd already have a pair of the Asterisk.... )

I use the RS7. It took me about 10 rides to figure out how to make them comfortable. I never like having to get dressed in the woods so I would put them on before I left the house which meant that I would have to really tighten up the bottom straps to keep them from sliding down before I got my boots on. Needless to say they were too tight. Since I started putting them on at the riding area and not tightening the bottom straps so tight they are very comfortable and I forget they are on as soon as I start riding. I know there are more comfortable models out there but then it seems you pay much more for extra comfort.

i have the visions. love em. i never ride without them. i don't use the sock but would like to try them. still not real bad for a long ride. very simple to use also. they seem to be a little bulky but what can you do when you are protecting your knees. the asteriks seem not as bulky. but i have not tried them on. one more thing motocross style pants don't go well with the visions. i went to the over the boot. easier to deal with when putting on and pulling off at the end of a long ride.

I have the RS7 and they are pretty comfortable. The will definately slide down when you dont have boots on. You also have to put your pants on slowly, because the velcro straps will snag the liner and get twisted.

I also started wearing the fox full leg stockings, because the velcro can dig into your leg on occasion.

Overall I like them. About a month after buying the braces I got twisted up on the face of a table, then the wind caught me and I was in a bad position. I stayed on the bike but one foot came off and I slammed my foot into the ground when I landed. I felt my leg twisting and the pressure traveled from my ankle to my hip. My hip was sore the next day, but that was it. I think without good boots and knee braces I could have really jacked up my ankle and my knee.

I bought a pair of the Vision knee braces, tried them on, and promptly sent them back. They offer little or no lateral support as well as not being able to prevent hyperextension. With only two straps they cannot be securely attached well enough to your leg. They do look nice though. Seriously, spend a little more and get some real knee braces if that's what you want. Otherwise just go with some basic knee/shin guards. My opinion is not meant to piss off any of you who have and use the Visions. I do however base my opinion from many years of experience in orthopedics so I know how real knee braces are supposed to fit and work.
