3G for a 2001 400, thats a lot of money for that bike, most 05's in that cc 400-450 range are going for abut that price and maybe to 33-3600 if they are nice with lots of extras, I know I just sold my 05 450 exc.

Average retail on that 400 is about $1800 and with this economy etc I wouldnt pay a dime over the retail value.

MXC is intended for desert racing, has close ratio trans as in the desert they want first pretty tall to get the tire spining and on top of the sand, thus 1st gear is kinda a pain in the woods (feal like the 2nd gear of a "woods" geared bike. A very experianced rider can make do, novice will struggle.

Power is mellow/friendly yet adaquate, easy to make more after your boored with it. 2001 is the second year of production and there where some issues that did not show up until the bikes had a couple years use so 01's had;

cam bearings that failed frequently

a bolt in the cam strocket that fell out

water pump seals that where a bit of a pain to service.

All of these items can be upgraded to newer pieces but I would be scared to death to put one into service without the updates as when either of those first two items fail the repairs will be big, likly a write off, fixing before they fail is cheap
