2004 CR85 jetting ????

Recommended Posts

My neighbor just bought his son an '04 CR85 (completely stock). It loves to foul plugs. The previous owner ran Honda 2 stroke oil mixed at 32:1.

Does anyone have a recommended jetting for this bike. It will be ridden 0-500ft above sea level. Temps usually run 50's winter and 90's summer.

His son rode it this past weekend at 45ish degrees F with Amsoil Dominator at 40:1. The plug looks much better than when he got the bike, but still not quite right. The carb has a bowl screw stripped off at the moment, so I haven't taken the bowl off. Waiting on new screws to arrive.

Any specs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

First make sure the top-end is fresh and the filter is clean. You can find the info at FMF or Pro-Circuit but I did the leg work for you.

Main Jet - 122 or 125

Pilot - 52

Needle - Stock

Clip Position - 2nd or 3rd from top

Air screw - 1.5 out

This should get you in the ballpark.

Good Luck!

Todd

Thanks, Todd D.

I had already done some legwork at PC and FMF. I couldn't find the 04(or didn't see). I know they changed the carb in 05 and wasn't sure the jetting would be the same on a different series carb.

I am going to put a new top end in it this week. That will be a good time to take carb apart, clean, inspect, and make adjustments. I will go with your ballpark suggestions. They will probably be closer than we are now.

Thanks!
