Air Cooled bike with a fan???

Recommended Posts

Reviving and old thread. I did a search on this subject wouldn't you know I found this thread on thumpertalk. I installed a waterproof computer fan to my 79 YZ400 and it dropped the cylinder head temp by 50 degrees. The fan flows 105 cfm and with a 1800 mAh rechargable battery and a 350 mAh fan draw, it will run over 5 hours. I know there aren't many people running air cooled bikes, but I wanted to add this info because someone else might find it helpful.

Dam dude, this post is as crusty as Nancy Pelosi. Its old. LOL! If somebody is riding an air cooled bike today and they are using it in a hot climate, I would offer a suggestion, find a nice liquid cooled bike and yer problem is solved. Yeup there are many bikes that are cool that are air cooled, but when its starts acting up, just pull over, grab a soft drink and wait it out. Putting goodies on a bike adds more weight and it draws more energy from the generator. Gotta love water pumpers..?
