Reputable transmission shops near Seattle/Everett?

Recommended Posts

There used to be a tranny shop right down from your house in the shopping center where the western store is at (by Berts)... they did a clutch in my blazer years ago. I don't know how good they are now but the clutch worked out alright and they are (or at least were) close to your house.

I got good recommendations for Clarys Transmission in Seattle. They gave me an estimate on my Silverado tranny and were great to deal with.

I opted to do the work myself, but I would have felt comfortable with them doing the work - just decided to tackle it myself to save some bucks, and learn how to do it.

I've used them a number of times and I cannot say enough good stuff about Clary's!

They do top notch work, are incredibly honest and their prices are more than fair.

1998-2001 Honda Accords had numerous transmission problems, American Honda extended the warranty on several of those transmissions. I would encourage you to talk to a dealer or call American Honda direct, I have seen many cases where they will buy the part if you pay labor. I think there customer service number is 800-999-1009, have your VIN # and mileage available. I used to work for Honda of Kirkland as the Service Manager, so that is how I know so much about it. Good luck

Thanks to everybody for their replies :D

I spoke with American Honda who (rightfully so) insisted that I take the car to a Honda dealer to be checked out. Verdict: new transmission needed(duh) and the cost would be just under $3,000 :worthy: I had the service manager (who was very helpful) contact American Honda and they agreed to pick up a big chunk of the tab. My cost will be $1,600. I'm okay with that since the car has 137,000 miles on it and the new tranny comes with a three year/36,000 warranty.

Sidenote: Because of recommendations and because they are right next to my office, I also spoke with Kirkland Transmission and was very impressed with the time they took to understand the problem and voice their ideas on potential problems/fixes, etc. Had I not been attempting to get American Honda to cover part of the repair I would have definitely used them. ?

In the late 80's I had a 72' Chevy Blazer that was pretty punched out and I was kinda proud of the fact that I could lift the front tires off the ground while using 1st gear, taking it to about 4k rpm and side stepping the clutch... The boys at Kirkland Transmission loved me... no fault of their's of course but they did more than 2 rear ends for me :D
