home made starting gate

Recommended Posts

I made one but cant use it because we dont have enough space really. I used U like shaped trampoline poles and connected them together with screws and you just hold up one of the bars with a small cut piece of wood, tie a string to it and have someone pull it. Dont have pics right now.

ok, buy some steel pipe with threads on the end, so you can put 45 degree corners on it (or you could weld). Next you have to come up with a design to lift it up, and get it to drop. I am too tired to think of anything at the moment, but i will think of it, and write back possibly if i get anything

Bend your pipe as required, mount it to a frame so that it can move from flat to 45 degrees upright - that's the easy part - now all you need is a solenoid on a remote - if you have or can get an old garage door opener, the remote can activate the solenoid (instead of the garage door motor which is likely what's burned out in the old thing).

The solenoid needs to be connected to a pin that holds the gate up, press the remote, the solenoid pulls the pin and drops the gate.

Hey crfrider, you should set the bottom frame(the one that doesnt move) in the ground so it is flush with the dirt cause one take it is gonna be doomed.Just my opinion.

It was in the ground more when I used it. I just was putting that as an example. The stuff wont bend easily though on mine. Its pretty strong tubing.
