Keys???

Recommended Posts

Buy a Ford with the keypad entry. That way you just leave them in the truck.

I thought there is something like insurance is void if you leave the keys in the car?? Anyways I always have a back pack with me so I just throw them in there... I have heard of people breaking into cars because they know you will be gone for a while.. bastards, that is why it is best to leave from a buddies property ?

i usually always have a hydration pack and it has zippered pockets i throw my keys and wallet in.

if not, (my cousin and i both do this) slip them inside the trailer hitch receiver. they are very well hidden there.

I am key paranoid (key-o-phobia)... I always think that I am going to lock myself out. I have a hide-a-key magnetic thing that holds a key. I stick it on a hidden part under the bed of the truck. I don't ever use that one except in an emergency, because I am afraid that I will use it and forget to put it back (see I am paranoid). I carry my regular keychain in a zippered pouch in my Camelback. Inside the pouch there is a clip for paranoid people like me, 'just in case' the zipper accidentially comes open, you don't loose your keys. Those backpack hydration systems can be a real life saver. You have your water, a space for a few tools, a couple of zip ties, gum, wallet, keys, etc. all without looking or feeling like you are really carrying that much!

in the ignition, the places i go to you have to sign in so, it wouldnt be hard to figure out who took it plus if i see somebody drivin my truck it would take me less then 30sec. to meet them on the road from almost anypoint on the track if i cut through

how many keys do you need to carry ? just the door key I would hope. zip tie it to a spot behind your number plate and you are good to go.

As for a spare, hid-a-key, type thing. If you crawl under your truck and look, most of them have little plastic plugs in the body (under the carpet). usually they are pushed in from the bottom. Pop one out, take a key on a long zip tie, and stick it up in there. Since it is under the carpet, that will keep it from moving much. If you need it, pop out the plug, stick your finger up there and feel around until you find the zip tie, then pull out the key. No one will ever find your spare key there no matter how hard they search over your vehicle.
