1978 DT125 Value

Recommended Posts

How much would you pay for one in fairly good shape? Do they have any"collector"value?

How hard is to find pats? where they popular back then?

Thinking of buying one for my son so we can ride together. I have an XT500.

Thanks, D.

You have a pic? Kawasaki is sometimes hard to get parts. They can be found with a little work though.

The older style with the pipe up one side seems to have more collector value than the newer monoshock DT's with the pipe that snakes through the frame.

My first bike was very close to this one.

If it is for riding, I wouldn't look for one that is in mint condition.

Older XR's and TT's tend to run forever if not abused.

Open www.google.com

Search for "Yamaha DT175 craigslist.org"

You will find ads for that bike. The downside is the data is stale and many bikes will be sold, but you do get a good idea of the asking prices.

Or search for "Yamaha DT175 for sale"

Used bikes are sometimes comical. I've seen totally junked bikes listed as if they were mint condition. Or nearly new bikes being sold for half price because used items sell for half of retail. I've purchased two used bike that were nearly new.

The DT175 isn't worth much compared to a modern bike, but for some old fart that wants to re-live his childhood, it's priceless.

Good luck.

I actually thought the DT125 ran better than the DT175. I have ridden several of each and all of the DT175's had issues in upper rpm's. Given a choice, I would get the DT125. I don't know if it has any vintage value, but it was an interesting motorcycle since it was the first monoshock DS. And it had enough grunt to haul my 190 pound buddy around faster than my pathetic KE125 could haul my 150 pound butt. Plus the bumblebee yellow and black is just plain cool.
