CRF150F Upgrades ?

Recommended Posts

I just got the 428 on my 150 and I think that it does respond better. I don't know if it is the weight or drag or whatever (that is always the debate) but the butt dyno says it is quicker. MAW had the best price by far, but it will come super long and will have to be shortened. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking about doing this to my fiancee's 150 (cause I like to ride it too  )

That's a good price, but the shipping brings it back up to the same price as the thumpertalk store. I have a 10% off code for thumpertalk, so I'll probably get it through them.

I'm getting my brand new 07 CRF 150 F in a day or two! I am an ex motocrosser who raced in the southeast years ago. If I did not crash I won. I pulled holeshots all the time and rode Yamahas, Suzukis, Ktm's, Husqvarna's, and Maico's. Why in hell am I buying a CRF 150 F you might ask? Well, I am a retired racer, love to fly on sportbikes, currently ride a street legal supermoto which is awesome in its element(twisty roads)! Don't have much time for the extensive maintenance of a new motocross machine and cannot be lured back to racing because of many factors. So, I really thought about lots of things and the CRF 150 F will suit me just fine. I can blast around my tiny backyard track without having to travel anywhere, which leaves me plenty of time to be with my family which is my top priority. The real fun thing will be hitting some of the trails and really put it to some supposedly fast riders in the tight stuff! I will make sure the suspension can handle the job, will experiment with the stock set up first , then try the BBR springs. If that is not enough will get some different forks and a Works performance shock. The engine will be left alone except for the power up deal ( removing baffle, air intake snorkel and re jetting, main and needle ). It will be a BLAST! It is cheap! It is super reliable! Like I said , its gonna be fun!!:applause:

I have a big gun full exhaust on an 04 150 and I run a UNI with an airbox that has been drilled out and has UNI prefilters installed to allow more air through an otherwise very closed-in airbox in Florida (sea level) and run a 115 main, 42 pilot and the needle in the 4th position.

Hope this helps

iv removed the baffle and snorkle, im changing the jet to a 115 and 42. will the rev box do anything? all i want is some more top-end, my riding style is too "high-revving" for the stock bike, and im sick of hitting the 9800 rev limiter all the time!!!

Its called shifting. the bikes power drops off way before that, it may sound like your going fast but in reality your actually going a bit slower. I only hit the rev limiter on sandy tracks or if I hit a kicker on a jump and start nose diving.

The rev box won't help anything on a stock engine because the engine doesn't make much power over what the stock ignition is set to cut off at. That part is true. It will allow the engine to turn up more but with no significant gains. The statement about them being worthless is NOT true though. If you add a cam or go with a bbk wjth a cam, then the advanced curve and and higher RPM's will add greatly improved performance. The key here is IF you have an engine that can produce useable hp above the stock limiter, it is an add on that allows you to use your new engine to it's fullest. If not, then you will find that even if you can go higher in rpm's , you prob. wouldn't anyway because you can tell you are past the rpm range of the engine before you get there. I have built 2 bbr 175's and neither ran properly at high rpm ranges with out a high performance ign. Both cut out at the stock limiter WITH THE ENGINE STILL PULLING HARD. the bbr ign. fixed this. I have also tried them on a stock engine and and it did nothing but allow the engine to rev out of the the stock power curve and would prob float the valves if one ran it that way as most kits and hp cams also need heavier valve springs to work properly at the higher rpm ranges to avoid this. I've tried it on both stock and modified engines and do not recommend it on a stock engine at all for the reasons i've stated. [Honda put the limiter on for good reason]. But on a modified engine that makes hp beyond the limiter, it should be added to the mods when you do them.If you are looking for low end power most of the kits add power at the higher rpm ranges unless you have some one build a cam esp for your application.
