May be a stupid question, but I want to buy a nice nut driver set for my bike. Are the spec bolts on the CRF450X metric or SAE???

No question is a stupid question... and anyone harassing for a question that THEY think is stupid, should not have responded.

99% of Honda dirt bikes are METRIC.

I've not found the other 1% that are SAE yet...

... it does put a question in my head however that from your question, you plan on turning a few screws on your bike, correct?! If so... please buy a torque wrench. And if you can, observe another who's more knowledgeable on mechanics of a dirt bike before you jump headlong into something you can't back out of.

... good luck ?

WHOA ... sorry for asking ? . I assumed metric, but the US is still hung up on everything using the old imperial system (not dissing it, just stating a fact), so I was not sure if Honda was making them SAE based on this premise. In Canada, everything is metric. And we regularly use "robertson" screwdrivers .......

? Wow. Sucks when someone asks a question and in his question mentions it might be a "stupid" question then gets hammered for asking:bonk: . I'm the king of stupid questions around here ? and Supervokes is simply not allowed to take my place.?

You are the KING!! ? :smirk: :bonk:

I have to say you guys were hard on him. I don't think it was stupid. If you didn't work on your bike, how would you know.

I agree!! No questions are stupid. Even if they are asked a million times. And what may seem stupid to one person is not to another. This forum is here to help people not put them down.

I like metric because of how simple and common sense the system is, but I'll admit that if the US ever changed (which I don't think will happen) it would be a PITA to get accustomed to it. Especially weight, temperature, speed...

I do prefer to use metric tools though and actually, most of the bolts on my Ford truck are metric, probably because it was assembled in Mexico.

Heres another possibly stupid question. Is it easy to find SAE tools in other countries? I guess it should be since some of the best tools are American made.?

I work in the heavy duty trade and lots of the time I need SAE tools, although metric is just as common.

One thing I don't understant is fahrenheit. Why is 32 freezing? Doesn't it make more sense that 0 is freezing.

Agreed on the temperature thing!

I have not seen any SAE tools in Japan. Although you can buy Snap-On tools at department stores (Tokyu Hands).
