Type of Coolant to Use

Hi guys!

I'm sloooooowwwwly getting the water pump leak fix underway. I will be attempting the alternate fix to see if that does the trick. I feel a bit intimidated by the task so I'm taking it a step at a time. I'll be finishing it tomorrow night. I will be picking up new coolant after work tomorrow and I know it needs to be silicate-free but does it need to be MC specific? Would an automotive coolant like Prestone be ok? I will make sure to use distilled water too... I just thought I'd put in some fresh coolant since everything is apart.

Anti- freeze that is save for aluminum, I used Prestone. Engine Ice is better though, if you can find it, use that.

I used the ProHonda 50/50 pre-mix motorcycle stuff. So now I have Honda coolant inside a Green Suzuki.

Don't you have to since the rads have to be drained before removing the water pump?

Yes the coolant must be drained, I'm sure I could re-use the drained coolant because it's still in good shape - only used for a bit (about 450 miles) I simply prefer to fill with fresh since the pump is apart.

Have Honda dino oil in mine till I get the engine mods broke in- don't tell the CRF forum

Me too, have a jug waiting to pour in when I do the primary nut, my 2000S hasn't developed the water pump leak yet, oh shi$$ now I probably jinxed myself!

I have a jug of Toyota coolant left over from a truck I sold a few months ago. I just got my DRZ and plan to put the Toyota juice in this weekend.

Has anyone used this or know if it’s safe to use in a drz400s? Walmart’s Prestone all vehicle coolant
