Does anyone have electric start on their klx 300?

Recommended Posts

The klx would be pretty close to my ideal trail bike if it had an e-start. Does anyone have e-start on their bike? Where did you get it and how much are they? Or can I peice it together with factory parts from the electric klx 250's that are sold in other countries?

BUMP................

OK. Now it's 2006 and Kawisaki sells a dual-sport klx250 with e-start. So, has anyone looked into swapping parts onto their 300 to get e-start? If the parts are on a US model, they should now be available for less than extreme prices?

Electric Starter on a KLX300R? No thanks, the bike is fine. I prefer not worrying about batteries, wiring, buttons and all the stuff, which comes along when you are using a e-starter. you'll have more problems with, then without an e-starter.

I agree, the e-starter is better for starting the bike, when your stucked in climbing somewhere, but that's all.

......Or when your legs are too short to kick the damn thing without falling over on uneven ground.

It might be easier to buy a KLX250S, then swap out the cylinders and pistons. Rejet both bikes accordingly or swap the carbs. Then you'd basically have a KLX300S and a KLX250R for friends to ride.

Hmmm... actually not a bad idea. Now I just need to find a used KLX300 to do the same with my KLX250S. Then I'd have one bike, street legal 300cc, but insured as a 250cc machine with ALL the good parts, and the second would be a nice trail only bike.

I agree with Eric. My 300 starts in one or two kicks all the time. It's getting to that point that is the challenge. ?
