How to dry boots?

Recommended Posts

Well,i went out riding yesterday and we got to a small creek that looked maybe a foot deep. My dad went first and once his front tire touched the bottom he started sinking. There was a ton of leaves on the bottom that made the creek look shallow, but it was really about 3 foot deep. He got across and we looked for a shallow spot that i could cross. We found a place and I got about a foot through it when i lost balance and fell off. So then my bike is sinking in the freezing cold water. I got my bike up and out but the cylinder was full of water. I ran back through the crick, to my truck, got my spark plug wrench, ran back, took out my spark plug, and kicked out the water. At that point, after a lot of kicking i got the bike running. So we continued on our ride. coming back we had to cross the creek again. I got across but dropped the bike on the steep bank. The bike didn't fall in, but i did. So now im drenched in water and so is everything else im wearing. Any good tips on how to dry them out without them getting moldy? ?

My friend made a 2 boot dryer outa hairdryer and some pvc pipe

I just did the same thing last week. My wife had an old hairdryer that fit perfectly into a piece of 2" PVC, less than $10 at the local hardware store and a few minutes with the sawzall and we were done. It works great. When I get home from riding, I wash my boots first, then put the boot dryer in them. By the time I'm done with my bike and other gear, the boots are dry. Medium heat and low fan setting on the hair dryer gets the job done nicely without getting too hot for the boots or PVC pipe. Extra bonus that it was a great father & son project (my son even 'designed' it and told me what pvc parts to buy ?
