Oil Filter Cap

Recommended Posts

Good morning all.  Working on a bike that has a an issue with an oil filter cap bolt problem.  Seems like the is a broken tap, bit, or screw extractor snapped off on the lower right bolt hole.  Upper left has also been stripped and re tapped.   I was thinking of making a bracket that could utilize two case bolts in the area.   Has anyone done this before or see any issues.  Bike is a 2012 KTM 250 SXF.  See pic for bolts I plan to use.

You could also use the countershaft bolt, haha.

Seriously, I'd put the time/effort into seeking professional help from a machine shop.

Alternatively, you could grind down the stub of broken bolt and try a center punch and thread extractor ... pretty risky move without a very good aim and a high quality fine bit and extractor set.

There is no stub to grind off. Already tempted fate with a punch and drill.  No bits that I had made a mark in it,  no idea what happened there.  Bike is not really worth spending alot of money on. Buddy's wife only rides it a couple times per year.  Just looking for an economical solution.
