Yz 85 shift shaft installation

Recommended Posts

And put a new motor back together on a 2004 YZ 85. The shift shaft was bent so I replaced it and now I’m having trouble getting tension on the torsion spring

ive rebuilt a few motors and don’t remember doing anything special here.just always pushed the rod back back in and it worked

Just to verify, did you re-use the old spring on the new shaft? If the old parts were good, that shouldnt be a problem.  What is the issue you are experiencing?  Are you able to spin the transmission and shift through all the gears?  My guess would have to be the spring could potentially be worn out or, it was re-installed differently than it came out
