Will a two stroke run on diesel

Not tempted to try this but heard some rumors that a two stroke will run on diesel, any truth to this? I mean it’s basically oil and gas

No. I have watched a guy try and do this with a fuel injected outboard at the boat ramp. It ran, kinda. But mostly it made a huge smoke screen.

Yes but not the one in your motorbike

 Many old diesels were 2t. I think some big  ship engines still are. 

 Theres head kits to convert RC 2ts to diesel.

Not only will It run buddy put premix in can with diesel.  Filled up the kx200 took off did not run well . The smoke you could see 4 blocks.

Nope it will foul the plugs almost immediately. I have flushed many watercraft fuel tanks that were accidentally filled with diesel.

Oh yea, that sounds like a lot of the crew and work boats we took offshore in the 70's; and the cranes on the rigs too.

Diesel is basically kerosene.  I've never heard of anyone trying it in a 2-stroke motorcycle.  Diesel engines, including 2-strokes, have high compression ratios.  That's why they run without an ignition system.  Doesn't seem a bike engine would do well on Diesel.  Fun thought though!

So Jet A is close to Diesel fuel???  I always heard jet A was Kerosene, basically

Yes. Jet A is diesel with a higher lubricant content than highway diesel.

What an odd question. 

As kids we ran a Kawasaki 90 on kerosene. It ran but not well, lots of knocking and pinking. From memory we ran a small amount of petrol first to warm it up. But that was F^&&ing years ago.

I once had to do that with a diesel car when I couldn't find a gas station that sold diesel!  Mixed a couple gallons of gas in with what diesel was left in the car just to get me to the next town.  It knocked pretty loud but didn't hurt anything!

Well if it worked good just fill it up at the pump without mixing but evidently it doesn’t
