Folding trailer (not HF)

Recommended Posts

Looks like a folding but not stand-up knock-off of the Kendon trailer.  One place selling ones like that here in SoCal is Towsmart, but looks like they don't ship to Montana?  Maybe a slightly smaller version of that trailer that has two or three motorcycle rails installed might save a couple hundred dollars. Kendon brand trailers also stand up into an even smaller space, but they also cost even more than the knock-offs.  Maybe you could look at used ones and just check for axle, etc. damage/bearing wear?

One challenge I would consider is that it is wider than a car in both dimensions when folded. Can be awkward in a tight garage.

good point.  I had not really compared it to the size of the Kendon.   I have a place outside I can keep it, just don't want a full size trailer sitting there all the time.
But, I guess measuring is a good plan  : )

Kendon makes the (narrower) 3-rail stand-ups as well as (wider) non-rail "utility" stand-ups, two-railers, one-railers, etc.  You can compare models/dimensions at www.kendonusa.com  .  Personally, I like mine with LED lights, crank-up/down dolly wheel, and their discontinued frame clamps that keep the back section from flopping/slamming when carrying a shorter bike, etc. that doesn't otherwise hold/clamp the back section of the trailer down.

Kendon is over 1k more than the USA trailer version (for the 3 rail) and I am just not seeing the justification for the price different (besides the pick your own color option)

Also for the 3 rail version I only see Kendon with the open/mesh deck.  I like the solid deck idea.   For $2868 really leaning towards the USA trailer version;

The ability to store the trailer standing up made me go for the Kendon in my very space-constrained condo garage.  Not sure if there are some pre-drilled holes (or you could drill them) in the lower-priced trailer's frame where you could self-mount the stand-up roller wheels if you wanted/needed that stand-up feature.

FYI... response from USA trailers ( did not specifically mention Kendon, only asked if they stand up);

The stand up feature is a patent of Kendon trailers. Ours is not designed to do that, however anyone can do what they want with the trailer upon receiving it.

Interesting, no?  If there are platforms/positions on the USA trailers to mount the roller wheels for standing up the trailer, I guess such wheels could be ordered separately from Kendon or perhaps fitted from wheels at a hardware store---if that stand up capability is what you want.

Just received the towsmart trailers folding dirtbike trailer (FreeStyle).  Appears to be pretty good quality - only used it once so far.

+folds and stands up - only 87 inches tall

-no casters included (would make it taller anyway)

+1500 GVWR = no registration required in Oregon

- Shipping cost to OR hurt a bit (~$500)

At this point would recommend.

Nice to see other options,  I had not seen the FreeStyle before.

the USA does stand up... mostly.   but no castors to move around on a garage floor.  (but that does not concern me)
