at least 15 lbs i have my oem exhaust in the basement and I picked it up the other day its real heavy prob close to 15lbs How did the PAIR plug kit work out ?

pair valve delete went ok, once i lifted the tank some. the stock hose clamps from kawasaki aren't holding the kit supplied plugs very well, so i need to remedy that soon. bike started and ran fine, no check engine light. no backfiring but i'm worried about riding it hard before i can get those airbox and exhaust valve plugs secure. and the exhaust diet had a nice result. down to 282lbs. with fuel.

NICE love to hear it running maybe small hose clamp might help secure it

Got some new street riding gear today from Revzilla caught a sale a few weeks ago. For a pair of Iron workers cargo pants with padded knees and a Revit  summer jacket with padded shoulders arms and back pad can be added .I dont know how cool the jacket will be in summer but deff good for spring and fall days and evenings. I really dont like riding in shorts and short sleeve shirts especially on the street Road Rash is brutal lol

latest pic of bike, before aftermarket bars.

I like the black but personally I think it's a bit bare without the stock decals.

I doubt the aftermarket exhausts come with a catalytic converter, which I expect would weight several pounds. Not sure if it would account for all 15 though.

I've thought about aftermarket myself mostly for weight savings, but I'm afraid of the check engine light coming on, and also afraid I'd need an ECU remap.

I saw a guy in another forum talk about all the weight savings. He got his bike down to ~260 or so WITHOUT touching the exhaust.  Can't remember all the changes thought.

On a different note, does anyone else dislike the kickstand position? Maybe it's just an S model problem, but i can't seem to retract the kickstand without the footpeg getting in the way. The angle of the stand isn't very comfortable either. It doesn't lean over enough IMO

as long as you get a aftermarket exhaust with a threaded hole for O2 sensor you will have no problem at all with engine light I have talked to several people and most had no problem with engine light and the ones who had a light come on it was a easy fix I can not say exactly this is the way to fix it but most said they ran bike for about 10-15 min and ECU readjusted itself for aftermarket exhaust and light went off there are many posts and youtube videos about it but basically they all shut off if they came on at all I think almost all aftermarket exhaust will came with the 02 sensor port and you can also request that it does have it

i'll weigh the stock exhaust for you and take a pic. also the decals just get trashed if you ride your bike hard, so removed them. never had the check engine light come on once.

My decal was blown off by the pressure washer at the dealer when I brought it in for first service, when they decided to wash my bike for me.  I like the bike without decals myself anyhow.

I sat on a 2022 KLX 300 at a dealership today. I was surprised that my toes on both feet touched the ground nearly as well as they do on the 230. (I'm 170 lbs 5'9" with a 31 inch inseam). The seat height on the 300 is barely higher than the 230.... but from all the YouTube reviews I have seen, I was under the impression that the 230 dropped a lot more when weight was on it but that's not true....it was barely noticeable....certainly not enough to even mention. But then again, not everything you see on YouTube is true.  I am leaning toward the 300 now as my next bike. My biggest concern was the seat height....until now. I had other concerns but the 300 felt just as comfortable as 230 so I am going to overlook them.

When I bought the Ninja 400 instead of waiting for the KLX230 you folks took it pretty well and I appreciated that. I'm sure you will take it just as well if I do end up with a 300 but I still feel a little bad that I probably won't be a fellow 230 owner someday. Oh well, I'll still be here hanging out and drooling over those KLX230 pictures so you're not getting rid of me. You have a good thing going with this forum family so keep it up.

The new 300 is definitely an interesting release. Not much heavier and not much taller than the 230, with more hp and farkles. Liquid cooled, DOHC vs air cooled SOHC. For simplicity and ultimate longevity I made a gamble on the 230, and I've loving it; the 250 didn't offer me enough temptation to step up the weight or complexity. But the 300 might be different. If you do get one, we'll be interested to see how it goes. You might need to change the name of this thread though. "KLX 230-300 Nation" lol

Indeed, my decals have mostly been removed by bamboo at this point haha... Keen to hear how much that stock exhaust actually weighs

I'm back in Thailand and back on the KLX! Jesse will be relieved to see that the orange bike has once again been banished and the videos are full of KLX again.

Even more excitingly, I'm getting my Thailand tour company off the ground. Members of KLX Nation who book a tour with me get the option to ride my very own beloved KLX for the tour while I wrestle a CRF instead ? If that's not loving sacrifice I don't know what is

and here are the results. i included the stock bars in the second measurement since they were swapped before the total bike weight i posted earlier. this is a certified by the state of alaska scale we use at work for air cargo, same as the floor scale the bike was on.
