Gas tank vent

I'm glad you asked. I have the same issue.

I bought one of those 2-3" racing vents. It popped off and was on the floor twice.

Then I bought a swivel type apparatus that goes in line and keeps from putting pressure on the connection when removing the cap. The swivel works but the tube still pops off.

So then I took the hose to the auto parts store and found just the right hose lock, spring type, and it popped off, twice.

Based on this post I am trying the zip tie next. I'll leave the swivel in place to help it not get torqued.

Thanks for the question. I thought it was just me.

Where did you get the swivel?  Do you have a pic?

Where did you get the fuel cap?  The one that came with my tank is a cheap plastic one.

The internal 'vent' part of my plastic IMS cap broke free so I decided to upgrade!

It's from BRP (I didnt like the look of the Tusk version), it's on their online shop:

LOL! My vent tube keeps pooping off my IMS tank. The hose fits the nipple tight. Not sure why it does this  randomly.  It was on the floor yesterday and its been over a month since it did that. I even put a small zip tie on it and it still pops off. Thinking about super gluing the hose to the cap nipple.  I could not get safety wire down in the recess to clamp it.

IMO these type of vent tubes with a breather cap can fail and cause a vapor lock or might also be a sign that it is not venting properly and pressure in the tank is causing the tube to pop off so as a suggestion try just a tube and see if it pops off?

then if the just a tube doesn't pop off sort out routing it into the top of the steering stem or try a different short vent tube with the breather cap.

Again slightly hard to explain than it is testing etc.

I used the oem Yamaha YZ / WR fuel vent hose, one way valve and stem bung.

That stuff doesn't fall off easily!

Do you have the part numbers for that setup or the exact model?  I looked at several Yamaha parts breakdowns and didn't find it.

I like that vent hose and cap that Foggy posted, real nice set up! I had the same issues as mentioned, I took maybe a 1/4" cut piece of the vent hose and stretched that over the vent hose evenly with the end that connects to the cap nipple with needle nose pliers, then a touch of glue and it has stayed put. The method I posted is an old skool trick that usually works pretty good because of the added tension...this IMS cap and L hose is a real PITA though!

The parts are shown on the fuel tank and steering pages of the Yamaha parts catalogues for carbed YZ & WR. ?

The vent hose is Yamaha part no: 90445-092K1-00

The Yamaha vent hose is long enough (420mm) to cut 1-2" off to create the short length between the cap and the 1 way valve (if you want to use the one way valve).

The 1 way valve is Yamaha part no: 3XJ-24380-00

The steerer stem grommet is Yamaha part no: 5TJ-2319U-00
