Is the CR125 the same as the CR125R?

I think they slapped that R behind the displacement back in the 80s as a marketing ploy. Attracts more buyers. CR means competition racer, to in essence they are repeating what the definition of "r", Competition Racer 125 Racer. Its the same bike. The CR250 was changed from CR250M to CR250R in 1978, the CR125M changed to CR125R in 1979. The “R” designation is to denote its status as a true works replica (marketing ploy).

A true works replica would be the $100,000 1985 RC250M...

Da "m" was a branded Elsinore. The "r" was a non elsinore. Ill take that works bike, just put it in a crate, and ship it to Metal Acid, 12345 unit,12 Aberdeen, Charlotsville, Vato's ville. 789871, Ill send you a six pack of cervaca....
