i have a yz85 and i dont have a clutch basket tool to take it out with neither do i have a impact, is it possible to file the basket without taking it out?

I wouldn't, it needs to be pretty straight and those pieces will be everywhere.

I've used a penny or wood on big bikes quit a few times and wedge between primary gear and clutch gear to put on/off nut

sorry im kinda new to this, how do you do that?

This is the same ideal but using a rag instead, have to fold it a few times to make it stiff enough, Just wedging something soft between gears so they can't move. It's gotta be something softer than the steel or else you may break a gear tooth

i dont have a pic of it and i cant really take one now but the main problem with the bike was that it stalled when you put it in first gear, i adjusted the clutch and everything changed the oil too, so i guess its the clutch basket?

Could be a warped clutch plate or several strains of the clutch cable could be broke and cable is stretching not giving a full pull or could be basket. Usually the basket has to be pretty bad before it'll start hanging up the clutches

ok thanks? also how do a access the gears do i only have to open the clutch cover or something more?

To pull just the clutch plates you can take off the small outer cover but to get in and jam the gear and pull basket you'll need to pull the bigger side case, drain antifreeze and need new gasket.

Youtube I'm sure has 100 videos if you need a visual

Another option to lock up basket to get that nut off is too put in gear and hold the rear brake, sometimes it'll hold enough or in gear and jam a piece of wood between sprocket and chain.

Make sure you bend out lock tabs on nut before giving it a go ?

Yeah just make sure it's the same threads. If it screws in with fingers it should be good.

Once they bottom out against case, only go a little more and that'll be tight
