It's part of the crankcase breather system, to recirculate the crankcase gases & fumes back into the engine. It attaches to the OEM airbox, as shown in the pic below. Because you have a UNI pod filter instead, you can leave it in place, or reroute a hose from the crankcase breather nipple to the rear of the engine, by the swingarm.

Thanks for the reply buddy, with it not being attached to anything it shouldn’t alter the performance in anyway should it? It’s just I’ve been having trouble with it as it only seems to work tidy with the choke on, once I turn the choke off it’s lik it’s not getting enough petrol. I cleaned the carb also bought a rebuild kit but it’s still the same so thinking maybe bigger jets??

The carb needs to be completely disassembled and thoroughly cleaned with carb cleaner or contact cleaner, followed up with compressed air to flush all the small passageways inside. Having to use the choke for it to run is indicative of a partially clogged pilot jet system.

Thanks for the reply again mate, I stripped  and cleaned  all the carb and bought new jets and everything but it’s still the same, it’s got an aftermarket exhaust a full fmf exhaust system I’m thinking maybe that might be causing it?

Gavinc  did you find anything?   My xr80 is doing the same thing.  Brand new carb, new jets, needle adjustments.  It will run and a idle partial choke, but dies when choke is off.  Please help same thing. Full fmf pipe and header

Either pilot jet circuit is partially plugged as stated above or you might need to rejet if bike is new to you. Confirm fuel flow from tank through carb and float level also.
