Fe 350 or Fe 450?

Recommended Posts

Hey! Plan to get 1 of these bikes but got some questions on which is best for my situation/need

So my use of 1 one of these bikes will be:

When im home i will use it as a street bike stock, only supermoto tires and changed gearing for street. I will not be going for more than 1 hour on the Street without pauses.

Im often on a country place i know where there is forrests/woods with mixed types of trails all over the place where i have always wanted to go and explore as a kid. When im there i will change to normal stock tires and gearing

So my questions are:

How is the Fe 350 on road with Supermoto setup compared to the Fe 450 with same setup? What speed can the 350 reach without screaming/very high RPM compared 450? Can the Fe 350 hit 80 mph without very high rev?

Because i wont be driving faster than that on road since that is 10 mph faster than the fastest roads here sort of. If the 350 can hit that without problems/super high RPM then is there is there really need for the 450?

Why i considered the Fe 450 is because i want something that i will not sell withing in some months, that could be a possibility of happening if its too heavy compared to the Fe 350 etc but i mean POWER wise.

I want a bike that i wont be bored of because it lacks power or slow etc, because i am not sure about that with the Fe 350, i dont know if i would want more power after a week of riding with it and thats why considering the Fe 450.

On the forrests/woods area, is the 450 super heavy? The lighter the better because i want something that wont be too heavy for me when im exploring areas i have always wanted for years and not sit on a bike that i cant even move with, with my 140 lbs of weight.

So the concerns for the 350 is: Too slow for road?

Concerns for the 450: To heavy for offroad/forrests?

(I will not be able to answer what my riding experince is questions etc, sorry and sorry for a lot of texts)

Thanks if you could help ❤️ ?

Why can't you answer what your riding experience is?

Simply put, the 450 will be better as everything you mention is more open terrain.

When it gets tighter, the 350 is better and be less exhausting to ride.

The both weigh the same but the 450 will feel heavier due to the motor inertia...

I use an FE350S with 14/48 gearing (I think). I can hit 110kmh (70 ish mph) no problem on DOT knobbies without it screaming. I think these things Rev out at 11000rpm no?

Plenty of power to lift the front on and off trail. It handles the trails splendidly.

I also toss a Timbersled kit on it in the winter and it handles it no problem. Now obviously a 450 would be better for snow, but it's still awesome.

My 350 makes as much power as my buddy's Suzuki 450.

You will be happy either way.

If you’re in the States you can’t get a 450, so that should answer the question. If your not I’d still get a 350. They love to rev and with the right hearing it will go faster than any dirt bike should. You’d be fine with a 250 at 140 lbs.

Oh cool that with dot knobbies too. You know what rpm you lay at on that speed? Like 6000rpm ish im guessing? Yeah i think they do reach 10k + rpm.

Thats nice to hear that it doesnt scream at that speed with that gearing. If i get the 350 i would probably go as high gearing as possible for safety i guess but that wouldnt make it fun with no torque/acceleration. 70 mph though thats plenty i think

Whats the fastest you have gone on your 350 on road? Is it stock by the way?

Ty for info! Helpful!:)

Im in Europe, oh nice:) Can it be good to be in the rev on the road? Like higher rpm for a little, or will it damage it long term a lot u think? Only little scary thing i feel when i hear bikes that likes to rev and are a little smaller. Not rev the hell out of it on the street, let it shout a little when accelerating, like going 60 mph to 80 mph in one go for example,

Thx for answer:)

The 250 and 350 rev to 12 or 13 k rpm. Long sustained runs at 13000 rpm are hard on any motor, but these were made to rev. With the right gearing you could do 60-70 mph at 6000 or 6500 rpm. You’ll want different gearing for the woods. Guys will run 14/50 and keep a 12 to put on front for the woods and all you’ll need to do is flip the axel blocks.

Not really sure on RPMs at that speed. But it still has alot of throttle left! A tachometer is on my wish list this summer haha. I've brought it up to 115kmh on road just to see, but I didn't sustain for very long. Needs some new rubber lol. But I Cruise around all day keeping to secondary roads hitting 80-90kmh no problem.

From what I remember, the previous owner said he took all the emissions stuff out. (Canadian model), but other than that, it's stock.

I really should invest in a supermoto wheel setup, but rims are so damn expensive!

Ya know.....I never actually thought of that haha. I have a 12T and a 13T just lying around...I should try them out. The 14/48 combo I've been using seems to work well for both road and trail. Mostly staying in 2nd on the single track mountain terrain.

True understandeble. Alright 6000-6500 Not too bad. Yeah for offroad as low as possible. No more speeds than 40-50 mph, thanks

The only time you’ll do 40-50 off road is on a dirt road or in the desert.

I will get the 350. Have googled/youtubed info that some have had their 350's up to 100 mph so that sold it for me. Want to enjoy the country place forrests with a lighter bike as much as possible, and aslong as the 350 can do 60 mph on road and hit 80 mph if wanted, i will love it. Thx for those who helped ❤️

You can't get an FE450 in the states any longer?  Is that right?
