XR200R aftermarket camshaft identification

Recommended Posts

Hiya folks,

I'm rebuilding an old XR200R that was built with an assortment of hot rod parts back in the day.  The camshaft has been reworked and has some pretty high lobes on it.  It is scribed with "WBXR2".  That's got to be the profile code of the company who reground it.  Does anybody know what company uses codes like that?  I'd sure like to find the cam profile information.

I'm pretty excited about putting this bike back together, so maybe I could share some of the details of this former cool racebike turned wife-bike for the previous owner.  I wonder if she knew what she was riding?

I put a new rod kit in it to replace the disintegrated rod bearing.  I also gave it an atc200x big-finned cylinder, 10:1 Wiseco piston, and it already heavy valve springs in there to work with the bigger camshaft. The carb was a 30mm Mikuni with a huge intake bell that required a sock filter, but I found a 28mm old round slid MIk that fits the standard airbox boot.  A K&N air filter is in that airbox, and a huge diameter header with a big ol' 4" aluminum Supertrapp on the back should open the breathing quite well.  I did a bit of grinding to make sure the intake and exhaust fitting edges all line up smooth and eased some of the casting issues at the valve seats to complete the engine stuff.  Not sure what attention the suspension will get, but I'd like to fatter forks that don't wag at speed like I remember on my original back in 1983, and I may as well look for something neat on the back end since the stock shock hose is burst and money for that could go toward something more interesting.

Looking forward to figuring out that cam profile.

Thanks folks!
