Any ideas how to fit bikes on a trailer with side x side also?

Recommended Posts

I’m trying to decide how I can transport my 4 Dirt bikes and my Polaris Ranger Crew all on the same trailer. Can’t use my truck bed because I have a Fifth Wheel. So right now when I go camp I have to either decide if I want to take my Ranger Crew or my dirt bikes. I’d like to find a way to take them all. Also getting a longer trailer isn’t an option. Towing Double I’m already at the length limit.

Hoping I don’t have to reinvent a wheel here and someone has already done this an can post up some photos but here are my thoughts.

Trying to figure out how I could build some trays that could mount to the top of my trailer side rails that could hold the bikes. 2 per side. I can across this photo of a guy that built something for his truck bed rails so he could haul his quad also. Would something like this work?

I’d need to try and build some rails like these that would attach to the top of my trailer rails and that could come on and off.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’ll post pics if I ever get this built. Looking for suggestions first before I dive into this to make sure it’s done right and secure.

Depending on the state(s) you run in as to how much grief you’ll get from the police (google pulling a trailer behind my camping trailer-it lists the 37 states it’s legal in).

Bigger issue than which trailer is the weight rating on the trailer hitch on the 5th wheel camper...MOST have a 300# tongue weight limit with a 1500# max load. You’ll exceed that with just you Polaris SxS. The second big issue is brakes on the second trailer-unless you are pulling a trailer with surge brakes (think those are a thing of the past in everything but boat trailers), you need to get brakes back there. Somewhere, in there, is a hint for a boat trailer with surge brakes-converted to a toy toter...

IMHO, you have 4 options...
1) getting a bigger/heavier/longer tow vehicle
(4 door FL, Navistar, Ford 750) and put
things on the truck
2) bigger toyhauler (you said that’s out)
3) Second truck towing a trailer with toys
(Best option I think IF you have an
experienced driver)
4) Choose to take only the toys you are most
Likely to use and implement the current
daisy-chain/2 trailer configuration.

I have run into the same issue-all I wanted to haul/carry was my 1200GSA-hitch weight rating hosed me. A small, low profile, tilting trailer solved my issue-NOT ideal, but functional.

This thread is rather old but since it was brought back to life....

At some point in time you just have to say &%$#@! it, I have too much stuff.  Either reconfigure what you have or just not bring it all with you.

Your open trailer is overloaded with just the SxS, you need a tandem axle.  The others are correct, from there you go up.

Or you buy a toyhauler.
