Is level 2 armor worth it?

From what I know there is CE level 1 armor, and 2. Then there are the look-a-like armors that don't have any certification, don't know how safe are those and I couldn't really find any information on them, so I'll skip it. Right now I have the fox titan, and it does its job. Only problem is the mesh gets torn up during trail rides, since I'm dealing a lot more with sharp objects hitting me. When I look for more coverage and armor that looks like it can handle more abrasion on the thing that holds all the armor parts together they tend to be expensive level 2 armor. 

 

Anyone know if there is a major difference between the 2? Would my bones really be at less risk at breaking with the level 2 on compared to level 1?

If you can live with the heat and looks there is mesh street jackets. VERY abrasion resistant but lacks chest protection.  

They can be had with good armour but even the cheaper ones are better than dirtgear.
