Sidi Crossfire 2 or Crossfire 3

Recommended Posts

I bought the cf 2 last week for $379 from rm atv on clearance. Figured if I could get a top end boot under $400 it's worth it. Can't be picky on color but I have a pin down the center of my fifth metatarsal as a reminder to spend a little more up front. Btw they shipped within 5 minutes I had em in three days free shipping no sales tax

I'm not sure what the difference's are between the 2's and 3's, but my 2's look exactly like yours.  This will be my 5th season in those boots and they still look and feel great.  I slapped on a new set of soles 2 years ago, the boots have well over 250 hours on them.  Would love to get a new pair, but I can't seem to kill these.

Same here on the buy, and waited for a long time to find them on clearance.

I thought they felt a little tight at first, like people say about them being narrow, but you need to wear them for a bit and they do form to your feet.  I almost bought a size larger, but glad I didn't.

It looks like the only thing I didn't get by going with the 2 is the ability to accommodate fat calves (cankles), and and stops limiting the range of the hinge.  I have chicken legs, so...maybe a couple wraps of duct tape to limit the range and I can sharpie a 3 on the side?

What are the major differences from the 2? I have the 2's for a few seasons now 2nd pair of soles and looking at the 3's or maybe a pair of sg12's. Any thoughts?

I researched this quite a bit before I bought the 2s and the best I could tell.... The 2s are awesome (I would concur) and the 3s are 4% more awesome. If you are the 1% white knuckled  rider that could take advantage of that 4% then I would spend the money on the 3's. The only other reason would be so that your buddies could see you in the 3's and thereby respect you 4% more, which was one of my considerations. In my case this would of given me 8% respect which I didn't think was worth it.

In all seriousness I went with them mostly because of Barry Morris' reviews on his cross training channel, you can't really go wrong with either. Hope this helps ?  I just ordered a new Beta and am looking forward to showing up with a new bike and shiny boots. I hope to get a new matching set of riding gear to really impress. I'm also considering going whisky throttle right off the trailer for added doucheiness.

The major ones are the sole replacement, the 3 uses a dove tail system with less screws. Time will tell if this is better. And the other being the hyper extension stops on the ankle hinge. The hard stops are what I really wanted the 3 for. Honesty if you have the 2 already or find them for a good price the 3 is not really worth spending hundreds more on. I went with the 3 as I found them for $410 shipped to my door.

Cannot comment on the Crossfire 3 but I regarding the 2, I had an issue with a seam coming apart on both boots. The seam and the upper material was scrubbed off by the plastic latch and service by the importer was poor.

One thing I did not like was the inner pad on the ankle hinge. I could not a achieve proper contact to my bike and always felt the stance was awkward somehow.

The inner side is pretty hard plastic that doesn't help, either.

But, that may depend of individual preferences. For my part, I went with Gaerne.
