Upgrades to my 450

Recommended Posts

Suspension is the biggest upgrade you can make for any bike. After that, it's all you're preferences on setup. Here's wut I've dun to my KTM 300 over time, lots of time and money but it has cumulatively redefined my bike:

SUSPENSION

Bar risers/sub mounted Scott's damper

FMF Fatty pipe

Thicker base gasket

FMF Powercore II silencer

Skid plate

Radiator guards

Pipe guard

MSR handguards

Guts seat cover

Pillowtop Lites grips

Do you own a CRF450X? (CRX???)

What riding do you do, What particular upgrades, Strictly performance? Reliability? Pretty vague question???

Who is Eddie? Is he a nice guy & why change the ECU without doing other mods?

Dont do the KTM 300 mods, Most wont work on your bike so pretty useless

The first basic which step is not really a mod but re-jet so the motor is not so lean, There is thread on jetting the CRF450X with recommended specs
Just re-jetting will give a noticeable gain
Airbox mod
Exhaust

then later on for more performance you could do the Cam, Port n polish etc etc The list is endless

You all know my story too. Started out with my Beloved 2006 Fo-Fiddy-x. Had it for 7 years, rode the piss out of it. Then picked up the 2007 and built it up for the wife to Dual-Sport with me and she said, Thanks but no-Thanks, I want another Sport-Bike.... I.E. the 2008 CBR 600RR (it's hers). So I listed it on Craigslist and got overwhelming interest... Then  the twin brother to the 2007 came up for sale and I jumped on it... Sold it too! Then I had a guy basically offer me way too much for my 2006 and I just couldn't let it go by. So I was Bike-less for about a month, looked very hard at everything that was available but there was nothing that could replace my 450x :jawdrop:  Except, a brand new one, I was going to wait it out for the 2014's but I heard from a reliable source from Honda, that there wouldn't be any new FI 450x that year. So there was a $1000 rebate on the leftover 2012's. So I called an acquaintance/friend who just happens to own a KTM/Honda/Beta/Kawasaki dealership, he found me one and the rest is history... BTW, I took all of my aftermarket parts off the 2006 before I sold it and put most of them on the 2012 and have been loving every minute on it since. The only thing left to do now, is send the suspension down to Paul/ASRacing and have him work his magic over...
