  2. This idea came about after I visited the adventure riders website. After seeing all the nice pictures that were taken from trails, I decided to start a thread focusing on the nicest areas you can take a picture of your Drz. I think I was just so bored today too. Here I'll set it off...
  3. Hello everyone, I am trying to find a cheap replacement for the stock DRZ400sm gas cap. Zeta has one but it requires the inners from the original. I bought another gas tank to use for the woods but it didnt come with a gas cap. Looking for something inexpensive that i wont have to use the inners from my other cap for. I just cant bring myself to spend the 100+ on one off of ebay. I dont care if it locks or not either? Any ideas????
  4. Hey what's up everyone, this is my first post as well as my first time looping a motorcycle (hopefully the last). I was practicing clutching up in 2nd gear, and got up to 35 and then got cocky with the throttle and looped my dang bike. no serious injuries other than really bruised knees covered with road rash. I was able to ride home luckily. I feel foolish but a good wheelie is &%$#@!ing fun. However my ride just isn't the same. I need a new tail light, I can figure out this much I'm having a hard time figuring out of my handle bar mount has been damaged or the handle bars themselves. I have pro taper contours (1.25in) which are pretty rigid but 35 isn't exactly a low speed crash. One bar end is completely missing and the throttle sleeve is shit. Forks maybe need to be adjusted as well as front wheel balance? I have some photos if y'all could help me decide what I got to do to get back riding. Thanks everyone! Be safe. 2015 Drz400sm mods: JD jet kit, 3x3, full yoshi rs2, pro taper contours
  5. Yes it is back again, a link that takes you to some of the most popular parts for the DR-Z400 series motorcycle. Here's the link: https://www.thumpertalk.com/shop/Popular/Suzuki-DR-Z-400-c2447/ If you don't see what you're looking for there, go HERE and either select "Aftermarket Parts" or "OEM parts". From there, you can input the year/make/model of your vehicle and when you browse the categories or use the search function, the results will be filtered by your bike. Note: by default, results include universal parts. If you only want to see confirmed fitment parts, click the "hide universal" parts button. Be sure to clear your vehicle if you need to shop for another bike. The ThumperTalk Store offers more than 8 million parts, but if you don't see what you're looking for, Contact the store folks and ask. There is a good chance they'll have it in my experience. There are lots of good places to shop, but not a bad idea to support the folks that bring us this fine forum.
  6. *Moved from sportbike forum Hey All, A while back a racer buddy explained to me that the best combo for tire size with lean angle in mind (for supermotos) is to have the front and rear tire as close to each other in terms of size and profile as possible for best and smoothest results in learning. I tried to find more info about it but found many contradictions. Some said 150 better, some said 140. And at that, they were talking about different tire models/mfgs and combinations. I tend to believe that the thinner rear tire gets you better/quicker/smoother lean and is also lighter weight so better response. But I'd like some more opinions or some stats if you have any. My Question: Is a setup of 120/70/17 and 140/70/17 on 4.25" rims, going to get you smoother and more stable results than a 160 or 150 rear? My current setup is Conti Attack SM's 120/140 (1.5K miles on them and loving it) Thanks for any help!
  7. Hey guys. I'm having a difficult time getting my bike running right. I have the original drz, the "k" series, kickstart only. I just got this bike off Craigslist so I'm not 100% familiar with it but I will do my best to describe what's going on. It has a fcr39 carb, open air box ( not the 3x3 mod) full open yoshimura exhaust, cams from the e model, a k&n filter, a small stroker kit. My pipe was blue and bike is backfiring. Obviously running really lean. I am at 860 ft. Above sea level. I opened the carb up and saw the previous owner had a 60 pilot, 190 main, and the needle was at setting 5. I knew this was wrong, but I'm not an expert. I need a jet kit, I'm having a very hard time finding a kit for the bike, since it makes more power than most stock bikes, With all the power adders on this thing. Can anyone please help me, I just want to ride!

2001 DRZ400S with 6800 miles on it. Also on Craigslist at https://boston.craigslist.org/nwb/mcy/6161569078.html THIS BIKE IS PART OF A SET or can be sold separately (see my other adds for the DR200SE, Motorcycle trailer, and Toyota Truck(s)). We are leaving the country, so if you want a bike for you and your spouse or kid... this is your bargain. Make me an offer on all three or four. It has been well used, but maintained and kept under cover. I haven't done extensive carb/engine/exhaust mods since it runs great. Comes with extra set of rims and tires. One setup is for street and another setup for dirt. Rear rims have the appropriate size sprocket for the tires and I have two front sprockets as well (changes the top and low speed considerably). Takes about 20 minutes to switch between street and dirt. I installed a Happy Trails rack with soft and hard pannier that can be included or sold separately. It has hand guards and tinny front blinkers (I got sick of replacing the factory blinker from hitting trees). Has a beefy skid plate installed. I have some random extras that go with the bike as well (oil and filters). Depending on your head size, you could also get a helmet or two for free. This dike gets 50 mpg on dirt or road and is rock solid. Includes a new lithium battery. Fired up on the first push of the starter this year. The bike is in Maine, but can come down to Boston with a little notice (I travel between Maine and Boston). I am not in a hurry to sell, so don't low ball an offer. Cash in hand to test ride

  9. I have a 2006 Suzuki DRZ400s. I am having an issue with the tail running lights not working. The brake light does work with both the foot and hand brake. The running lights will come on when i turn the key past run to the park setting. It does have an aftermarket led tail light. Any insight would be appreciated

$500 NON-NEGOTIABLE I have OEM wheels for a DRZ400s. I converted mine to a supermoto and I am looking to get rid of the dirt set. Perfect for your 400sm to dirt conversion. The tires are in great shape with a ton of tread left as you can see in the pics. I also have a set of the stock enduro/dual sport tires unmounted that you can have with them. The enduro tires are brand new, still have the nubs on them.

  14. Hey all, I know there's a thread in the international section already, but I'm more interested in how many Aussie DRZ riders are on here?I'm located on the Gold Coast, QLD :excuseme:Anyway I just bought my first DRZ today, it's a '01 model with the kicker engine. The previous owner has removed all the roadworthy gear including the indicators, speedo unit, brake light etc, even the rear subframe :lol:I've started gathering up some parts for it (indicator switch, trail tech vapor, edge tail light etc) so I can register it eventually. I was hoping there are others local to me so I could have a specific look at what parts I'm missing? Does any body know of any DRZ being parted out (for the subframe)? There's some on ebay US but postage is a killer.Would be great to catch up with any other aussies on the site
  15. Hey guys, I could use some help for yall. After a long run, a slow oil leak started at the bottom of my engine. I found the oil was dripping from the center of this bolt head pictured. Could it be the counter shaft leak but its trailing its way to here? Any comments or suggestions are appreciated! Thanks, boys.
  16. Hi everyone, I have a 03 DRZ-400s, and since ive bought it ive had the same problem after many tries and successes at fixing. Basically when ever it feels like it(it has to be cold) it will decide not to start and will most of the time just let out huge ass backfire 3 or 4 times while trying to start her. I have cleaned out my carb about 8 times now, with 2 different bike "experts helping me". It seems as if everytime i clean the carb it will the work- sometimes for months and sometimes only for hours and then BACK to the original issue of not starting and only backfiring... (when she does run though she runs beautifully and when trying to start her IF she doesnt backfire she will start on first swing everytime.) I have checked valve clearances and are within tolerances. ANY SUGGESTIONS??

  19. Hey guys really need some advice. I parked my bike in the garage the other day running just fine, but today when I went to hop on it it would not start. It turns over like a top, but won't even try to start. List of things I have tried. i removed the spark plug and replaced it. Also made sure I had spark. i tried spraying starter fluid inside carb with no result. I removed both the clutch and kickstand safety. I also just tried roll starting it. It was turning over but once again did not even try to start up. please help I do not know what else to try or check thanks!
  20. Hey All, I have a question about needle taper and how it affects fueling? 2003 DRZ400S (E model FCR39, 3x3, E Header with fiber wrap, Stock S muffler with endcap mod, and stock S cams). JD JEtting stage 2 Kit for DRZ E model, not for the S model with FCR Current Carb Settings: -155 main -Blue needle 2nd clip from top (DRZ E taper profile) -Coast enrichener removed -everything else stock E Carb settings (including slow jets, and air jets) -idle screw = 2 1/8 turns out (and idles perfect) I ordered the EMN needle as per suggestions from other TTers My Question: I was just wondering what the EMN needle would do to my AFR graph? The taper chart doesn't make sense to me. If you see the attached image, my AFR seems to be rich at 1/4 and 4/4. I believe the EMN needle will flatten/richen out my mid range. So, to compensate I also bought a 150 main. Is this a correct assumption? PS. Is the first rich state the AP effects? I know it's too rich because it's not a punchy as a pumper should be. I'm saving up for a leak jet kit/power bowl/AP cover, but was just wonder what effects to look for when I start tuning more in the next few months as funds become available? Thanks! Note: Blue is first run with needle clip in 4th from top. Red is 5th run with needle 2nd from top to lean it out. Note:
  21. I thought I'd share how I'm able to use all the fuel in my IMS 4 gal tank. I connected a 1/4 in(?) fuel line to the reserve pickup of the stock (U.S.) DRZ400e petcock with a jetski/snowmobile style weighted and screened fuel pickup on the end (Dapco 11962). That runs down into the bottom of the left wing of the tank. The fuel line just inserts snugly into the reserve hole of the petcock. (The aftermarket petcock I tried did not work for this because the reserve pickup is not isolated from the "on" standpipe and so it would suck air instead of fuel.) This setup will get all but about 12 oz of fuel out of the tank since the very bottom of the "wing" is below the level of the carburetor. To get the last 12 oz of fuel, I took a schrader valve off a bicycle tube and removed the rubber off the bottom end of it with a wire wheel. This inserts into the end of the vent tube of the fuel cap. 15 pumps from my hand mtb pump gives about 1 psi of head pressure in the tank which will allow me to use all but 1/2 oz of fuel. I just keep the schrader valve in my toolkit for emergency use. I've had this setup about a month now. I'll report back if I have any issues but I've run it down to empty a couple times now and it's worked great! The only issue I have now is the On standpipe is a bit tall. I have about 90 miles remaining when I switch to reserve ;-) Left "wing" only fuel quantity in US galTotal fuel quantity in U.S. galParts used. I did use the screen from the aftermarket petcock I bought since my OEM screens were shot. That blue fuel line just holds it on the standpipe.
  22. Hello ALL, I am totally new here. If i am posting at a wrong place please do guide me. Hope not to annoy you all with my questions... I am in process of acquiring a DRz400 2004. Its factory pack never been put together or taken out of the box. Would it be still a good buy ? Do i have to worry about getting new fuel pipes and all ? What should be the cleaning "RIGHT way to do "? I know there is No right way to do it... but How would you prefer to get it on road. am looking forward to hear from you all and sharing my experience with DRZZZzzzz.... What name should i have for my bike ? Any suggestions would be great.... Thank you.
  23. I have a 2000 DRZ 400S. I used to get 110 miles on a tank before I had to think about filling up. Recently it has started to act like its out of gas with only 75 miles on the tank. I filled the tank up and it only took about 1.6 gallons, so I know it's not empty. It is also getting about 47 mpg when it used to get 55 mpg. When the engine dies at 75 miles on the tank, I switch the fuel petcock to free flow and it runs fine again. Anybody know what the problem could be?
  24. Just had a recent dirtbike accedent that has had me in the hospital for 3 weeks+ and has me writing this from my hospital bed currently. Well i left the house with a buddy i had just met to go for a short ride for an hour or so ,we both have street legal dirtbikes, him a ktm 300 2 stroke, and myself on my drz 400, well my buddy is new to the neighborhood so i had him following me to a trail i found in the area that takes you to a giant concrete drainage ditch with sloped walls up each side and the ditch goes on for a few miles, well i had rode this spot by myself the day before so i decided to take him down there, so i was wearing my helmet gloves and a pair of leather low top work boots, we got about a mile down the ditch i was riding up and down the sides of the ditch ( about 20ft high ) my buddy past me doing a wheelie, everything was all good having fun so far and i rode up the wall one more time and came back down and i felt my left foot just hit something and get snagged and my foot had that feeling that it took a bad blow and i instantly slow to a stop and look down at my boot it was tore up, so i waved my riding partner to come back knowing i hurt something, so he got back i got off bike and had him put down my kickstand, i went down to the ground and untied my boot to look at my foot because i could feel i might have broke somthing, sure enough when i took the boot of my sock had a big rip across it, i could see all the ligaments and tendons on the top all exposed and my big toe and the next two after were just hanging there freely floping around and going numb, i was in shock, i wasnt leaving my bike down there or taking a 2000$ ambulance ride, my bike was a kickstart only so i had my buddy kick start it i got back on and i started to ride shifting with my heal, as i rode out i was looking for what i had hit i noticed it was a tree stump about 1ft tall and 8 or 9 inches wide[emoji35], so i had 6 miles to get home by the half way point i couldn't use my heal it hurt so bad i started reaching down and shifting with my left hand no clutch, well i got the bike home and had my girlfriend take me to the hospital, i knew it was bad but little did i know what i was about to go threw, so the first surgery was metal pins in my toes and about 30 plus stitches, a week later a second surgery to amputate my big toe because i had sevored the main artery in the big toe and it lost circulation, well after another 6 days the whole top of the skin started turning black because of more loss of circulation because of the laseration across the whole center of the foot severd alot of blood vessels, so on my 3rd surgery they removed all the black skin including the skin that covered my amputation, and now after just having my 6th surgery they did a skin graft yeasterday and a screw to hold sum bone together, im still in the hospital now and thinking about alot, one thing im thinking is that i regret so much leaving the house in work boots because they were not adequate protection, i own actual dirtbike boots and failed to wear them this time and this all most likely would have not happend or atleast not been near as bad. So my advice is when you go ride WEAR sum actual dirt bike boots and if you dont own any go buy sum because it could save your toes or whole foot from a serious injury, and yes i knew this but my thinking was, im just going for a little quick ride and man do i regret that. I love riding and could never give it up, as soon as i heal up ill ride again but i will definitely invest in even more gear a be more cautious than i already was. So here are sum pics of the injury so far, dont look if you have a week stomach or dont want to see blood and guts,
