Just wanted to share a photo from a ride the other day... I bought this bike in January after picking it up for a steal ($550 with a helmet). Out here on Maui, dirt bikes are hard to find and absurdly expensive so it was apparent that this seller didn't know the market. Turned out he lived in New York and the bike had been sitting in his mother's garage for 10 years, so he was happy to make a few bucks and his mother wanted it gone. Initially, we were able to bump start the bike, I ran it through a couple gears and that was all I needed to see. Took it home and its been a bit of a project but no extensive repairs. Tires, oil, air filter, carburetor rebuild, tuning, new chain, doubletakr mirror, sprockets, spacers etc. Have been having a blast. My first bike was a 2000 XR 100 so these XRs have a special place in my heart and I find it funny how another has found me all of the way across the ocean. This is my first bike that I've torn apart and taken. Have been using it on the roads a lot to get to trails and I've learned that I geared it a bit low for that (12 / 49 ) but will soon try a 13 tooth in the front to see how that changes it up. Had a lot of useful help from a lot of you and just wanted to say thanks! There will always be something new to do to this bike, but thats the fun in it, right? My wife is happy that I've found something that puts such a smile on my face again. This community kicks ass. -Julian

I am going to be hanging out on your island from Jan. 24th to 30th. I know this might be alot to ask but does anybody out there have an extra bike and the need for a riding buddy? If not, is it possible to rent a dualsport or dirtbike? If I do get a bike, would anybody be free to ride? I am pretty flexible on dates and times, hell I'm on vacation... Jon

G'day from Australia! I was in Hawaii for my honeymoon last year and while the beaches were nice and seeing my wife in a bikini for two weeks was awesome, I kept staring at the mountains and picturing riding Romaniacs-style hell tracks. Is there much of it in there? Is there much of a dirt bike scene on Oahu? I understand it's a very remote place, but I didn't see any dirt bikes the whole time I was there.

Im gonna be moving to Hawaii around the end of this year for work. I know for a fact that Ill be living in the area for the next 3 years, so here is my dilemma. I have no idea how much riding there is to be had in Hawaii, so should I bring my bikes with me or should I send them to my parents house in AZ? Any help/info would be appreciated.

I've got a few questions and hopefully somebody here can help me out. Firstly I have recently moved to the Oahu area and I am trying to find places to ride at. I am also looking for people to ride with. That being said as far as my skill level goes I'm somewhat of a beginner. I've only been riding for about a year or so and I was previously riding trails out in NH. I'm not to sure how different the riding is out here. Lastly If anybody can recommend me to a decent shop that would be cool. Unfortunately I live in an apartment and I don't have any place to do any work on my bike. Thanks in advance 🙂

I thought I might post up here if anyone is coming to Maui and wants to ride, I will have a spare bike for a little while and am willing to take you riding. we can work out the details just pm me here. I have a bike but would have to show you the trails. I cant just rent my bike out and let you go off wherever we could ride all day to a couple of hours / whatever you like

looking to convert two ttr 230 4 strokes to street legal in washington, then shipping them to hilo hawaii. can this be done? will the state of hawaii recognize them as being street legal?

Taking a little vaca to Maui 4-20 thru 4-26. The wife doesn't know it yet, but I would love to sneak away for a day to do a little trail riding with some locals... I'm an intermediate rider, and obviously won't have my bike with me. Would be happy to pay "rent" to borrow a bike, and have you show me around for the day. I'm into all kinds of riding, from wide open desert, to tight steep gnarly single track. I reside in Oregon, and ride a 08 CRF450R. Anyone out there wanna help me ? I'd love to incorporate my favorite hobby into my vacation!
