Looking at my first 4T

Ok think i'm going through my mid life crisis lol. I want another dirtbike. Have a YZ250 now. I was wondering what you would recommend as far as years the ones i'm tossed up against is i've found a couple 2006 and 2007 YZ450f with some extras like exhaust for about $3000 and I found a couple stock, low hours 2009 YZ450f for $3000-3200. Is the 2009 that much better to forgoe the extras on the earlier models? I know the 2006-2007 made more power because of the exhaust but thats the extend of my knowledge of the differences.

YEs, the 08's and 09's are better in some handling respects ------ plus newer and you said low hours -- sounds like a "win-win" -- the trivial amount of extra power the muffler on an 06 gives can be gained back easy enough by calling DR D , but even a stock 08 or 09 will have several more hp's than most people need, unless they have a 2 digit AMA number

-- if you were in Oklahoma, i'd love to sell u mine - LOL. '08, 30 hours on it with carbon/Ti exhaust, Rekluse clutch, etc. -- but its hard to give away 4- 5 year old MX bikes here seemingly

IF it were me, it would probably be between either one of those '09's --- the white one's back tire has seen a couple of smoky burnouts on pavement it looks like ---- maybe you could back him down to 28-2900 , -- rear sprocket is factory on it, probably everything else too

The blue one has Davi Millsaps replica Muscle Milk graphics , but but, check the car in the background -- it was likely owned by an older guy who just likes to keep his toys looking trick

The other 2 YZ's look way too blinged out and the CRF has a paddle tire that goes with it, plus MEtal Mulisha graphics (that sends up red flags and warning flares there-- sand people are hard on equipment and is not the best environment for a 4 stroke race bike-- i wouldnt buy that one unless it was a giveaway price )

Ww great observations and your totally right. Im gonna go with the white one he agreed on 3100 but now igot buddy at work that wants to unload his low hours 2010 for 3500 so if his wife agrees the 2010 is a better way to go? I normally dont like new model years so how are the 2010 models?

The YZ'a and CR-F's are both pretty darn good for long term users ----- Honda uses great materials and build quality (like their cars) , Yamaha does too ------ if someone wants a used bike, or wants to keep a bike more than 2 or 3 years --- Honda and Yamaha are the only 2 to think about.

I'm a bit biased though --- I've got a YZF and a CRF-X LOL

Think I am leaning toward the yz. I read the himda is very rough up front so I would have to put money into suspension and flywheel weight where the yz is pretty much perfect. I would see some track time but main reason for buying this is to keep my yz250 for track and the 4t for trails. So looks like Honda fails that part. About sum it up?
