Can pre-09 YZ450F wheels be made to work on a 2010 YZ450F?

Have a set of 03 wheels. What are the differences between them and 09 -up wheels? Of course I'll probably sell my 03 wheels and buy 10 wheels but would like to know

Front will work, rear is different. If you are looking to buy a set of wheels for '10 and up PM me.

The '09 and later rear wheel uses a 25mm axle, while the earlier models back to '99 use a 22mm axle. At this point, no bearings exist that will convert the earlier hubs to the larger axle size.

You can make it work with a pre-09 axle and axle blocks on the 09-up swingarm. I believe you will have to modify the axle blocks, but there was someone on here not too long ago that made it work.

You "can" use the early axle blocks with an early axle to fit the rear wheel, but that places the weight bearing load on a portion of the swing arm not originally intended for it. If you made a pair of steel sleeves for the blocks that have a wall thickness of .060" (1.5mm) so that they extend into the swing arm axle slot, it would be some what more sound.

That's the route I would go personally, or at least make sleeves for where the axle goes through the swingarm and use the old axle blocks.

I was hoping for different bearings but we'll see. just want it in case i get flat and don't have time to fix right away.
