Re-valving a 99 rm 250 for Desert and Single track

I own a 1999 Rm 250 and have only being riding for 2 years. I am 38 years old and this is the only bike I have ever ridden. I ride pretty much just single track and desert. I recently did my 2nd desert race and am officially hooked. I ride the over 35 novice class and will try to move up to amateur next year. I am interested in tackling the suspension and setting it up for the this type of riding. I have read Dogger's thread and have an decent understanding of what to do and how to do it. What I do not have is the experience to know what changes I need to make or necessarily how the bike needs to feel. All I know is after a race I feel like I have been beat on a little bit. The setup needs to be softer and more plush. I think. I have done some research and found these stock settings for a 99, can someone confirm if these are correct, if not could someone help me out with the correct stock settings, and possibly offer a baseline of new settings. I am planning to start disassembling the forks next week, and would like to have any necessary parts in hand to make the process a little smoother new shims, valves, etc. He is the info. for the forks and myself. Any advice for a newbie is greatly appreciated.
