Cleaning Base Valve - Disassemble?

1 post in this topic

When cleaning the base valve, is it necessary to dissemble the valve stack? Or can it be flushed out while it is still assembled? I would rather not mess with the factory’s staked method of locking the valve stack holding nut on. Also, this is my second fork fluid change (first time to inspect base valve) and I don’t see any external signs of gunk or deposits on the base valve. The fork fluid was much cleaner looking than during the first (initial break-in) fluid change.
