2012 WR450F headlight

How is light output compared to the 07-11? Is anyone interested in trading?

I just put one on my 2011 WR450. It's much better than the one that came on my 2011 and would probably be great with a 35 watt HID. Also it's not plug and play!! The one thing that's much better is that its about one inch higher off the fender so theres a lot less reflection off the fender.

Where did you get yours? How much?

I got it at my local dealer for about $100 for everything.

What does it matter how much light it puts out. Pretty much everyone I know has already done the $50 HID conversion. You can get the maximum amount of light regardless of the year of the bike.

I have HID. A better reflector pattern in the headlight will more effectively light up the trail though.

Dang that squdron is spendy

Yeah it is. Especially when you can buy a pair of those 4 spot LED lamps for $199.

Cycle News has a test on the '012 WR and they said the OEM was marginal for night use.

I've ridden with it at night and its actually pretty decent. Better then previous years stock lights (compared against an '03 when riding). I wouldn't bomb 70 mph through the desert with it but was pretty comfortable doing 30-40 mph down the trail.

You guys that have done the HID conversion did you have to change the stator to keep the battery life longer than 1 hr. I have a 2008 with a 35 watt hid kit that is wired threw a on off switch directly to the battery. Works good but kills the battery. Now I have the new 2012 and wanted to do a HID on it. Any info would be great.

I'd like to HID my 12 too... will it draw too much if I also have an HID helmet light wired into the system already?

For the OP - it is quite good in my opinion. Done several high speed desert runs at night. However I have 20-10 vision so you old guys may need more light
