What are the chances that the carb body was damaged from bent airscrew

I cannot get the fuel screw to respond on my 96 XR200R. The carb is spottless, however when I put a rebuild kit in it I noticed the taperered end of the fuel screw was damaged. The end was slightly mushroomed and had a slight bend to it.

How easy is it to damage the body using a bent screw?

Is there any way to check if the seating area is damaged?

Has anyone seen a damaged one, and what were the symptoms?

Is ebay the best bet on sourcing a used kiehin body?

If the screw tip is damaged then the chances are high that the carb body is also damaged. There is a slim chance you might get by setting the screw out less that called for. Say the manual states the screw should be set at 1 1/2 turns out you might find that setting the screw out at say 1 1/4 or 1 1/8 turns will work. Keep your fingers crossed that will work.

I would try replacing the screw. It is softer material than the carb body.

Be sure you have all the washers and O ring when you put the new one in.

Could have been that they were missing and someone screwed it way in to compensate for the air leak.

I ordered a used body off ebay, and a kit from winncycles. It should be here Friday.

It is like there is near zero adjustability in the pilot circut. I've been chasing my tail on it all week :banghead: , so now I will throw some parts at it and see what happens.

I agree that a missing O ring may have caused an air leak. Carb bodies are either a pot metal or aluminum, both are soft and easily damaged.

I put a new screw and oring in and it did not work.

i dont think the carb body is damaged becuase the needle is brass which is softer than the carb so what will bend is the needle
