Dunlop mx31 front tire

Just wondering why you haven't tried any Michelins also?

Money. They cost way too much around here.

At the speeds I run, I can't get away with less pressure. I don't know off hand of anybody in my district who runs pressure that low for desert racing down here.

Apparently the sidewalls are extremely hard thus allowing low psi at high speeds.

Michelins are priced similar to other tires.

I like the michelins.. so far no better than mx51s but locally:

$110- $120 for MS3

$80 for MX52

Just paid $65 for a ms3 front and $74 for rear from Rockymountain atv

Not sure if the sidewall comment was in reference to the 739 or the Michelin. It's certainly true of the 739, but that's where the weight comes from. Anyway, IMO, a tire with a stiff wall at 8 psi and a tire with a lighter wall at 12 aren't that much different to me, but I can feel the way the weight changes the handling a great deal more. The 739AT is about 2 pounds heavier than the MX51, and the 51 bites a lot harder.

Retail pricing is one thing. The prices we actually end up paying for Dunlops vs. Michelins is another.

man thats a deal. I usually get tires from them but don't remember a deal that good

I have the MX51s front and rear on my 07 450F. Rear I have been happy with, good traction and wears well. front not so good. The 756 up front was better but I like the MX51 better on the rear. Not sure what I will run next but it wont be an MX31.

Had the tire on two YZ450's and both of them lost a large number of side knobs making the riding dangerous. They are now off and will never be back. Don't use this tire!

Had the same problem. The knobs started to shear off on the sides. Motocross only...run @14psi

I had a similar experience with an MX31 I tried. I fell about ten times in corners during a gran prix race, couldn't figure out why. Had very little time on it of soft/mud terrain and this happened:

Dunlop paid to have it shipped back to them and replaced it with the tire of my choice. It was nice of them, but ruined my race.

Not Sure about the MX31 but I use a MX71 in front and LOVE it here in the AZ desert. Hasn't let me down in the GP races yet either. Also use a Maxxis Desert IT forthe rear but have been thinking of going with a MX51 for the rear next time as the ITs keep going up in price for no damn reason. :bonk:
