Corkster where did you come up with a mud map?

Installed the Fastway F3 pegs today.

The only part of the cockpit that seemed cramped to me was the peg-height.... but then again I am over 6' tall. So I ordered the Fastway F3's and installed them in the "low-boy" position which dropped the peg height a full inch over stock. The pegs feel much better now, and having the replaceable studs is a real plus.

No. It comes with the same stock map as the non-programmable one. However it comes with an instruction sheet with 5 maps on it, 3 for the stock pipe and two for the FMF pipe.

I thought the competition ecu corrected the lean fueling vs. the stock ecu? Do you mean that you have to buy the tuner to get a map that will work with the stock can? I got rid of my peashooter and might get a pro billet endcap arrestor, but wasn't planning on a new can. I ordered a competition ecu, but not the programmer. I am gonna be pissed if I gotta get that to just to make this bike run at a basic level of performance.

You do not need to buy the programmer. Just have the dealer download the FMF map into your performance ECU, and you are done.

Do the dealers do this for free? They damn well better, my dealer seemed clueless and could even tell me where the throttle limiting screw was. I figured that out after visiting here. This is my first Yammi fuel injected bike. The other FI bikes I had came with maps that could be uploaded via laptop to the ecu.

KTM 350 XCF-W = 250lbs full tank

KTM 450 XC-W = 259lbs full tank

KTM 500 XC-W = 261lbs full tank

WR450F = 273lbs full tank

12lbs is pretty good, considering you won't have to take it back to the dealer, ever, for issues, and that it costs over $2000 less...

Who you trying to convince? LOL Yourself? I'm going to pick up a 13', let all the bugs get sorted, if I can hold out that long....My 06 looks so old since this 2012 showed up.

for an end user it has to be installed.

The dealer might be able to put it on a bench top flasher if they have one. Otherwise they could just toss it in a bike and do it. Takes like 15 minutes total to put the ecu in flash it and then remove it.

Yamahas have bugs, since when? Honestly, I can't see anything on this bike that is not already proven. The motor has been around for ever and very potent, frame and suspension are probably as good as it gets and also time tested. Fuel injection is probably nearly the same as the YZ with different mapping. I gotta say though, that head light has to go.

10/4 on the headlight. You are probably right, but the 13's are just 5-7 months away. My 06 looks old, but runs great. My back has been preventing me from riding anyway, I can wait a bit.

I was adjusting my suspension and discovered something that was a little surprising. I think this bike is sprung a little biased towards heavier riders. I am about 6' and 225 lbs with gear, which I consider slightly above the size of the typical design spec for typical riders. Geared up on the bike, I had about 63mm race sag on the forks and 87mm on the shock. Neither of which get into the low end of recommendations of 65-75 mm on the forks and 90- 110mm for the rear. Odd, in my opinion, as it usually works in the opposite direction.

That being said, I decided to leave the springs alone and do some work with the compression and rebound settings to see if i can find the sweet spot. I originally thought I would need to add some preload to the shock, cause I thought the front end felt a little wallowy at speed. I may have to raise the forks a little then decrease preload on the shock to see if i can get the right sag. Otherwise it might be new springs all the way around.

I agree on this. Looks like the headlight and brackets unbolt from the clamps so maybe a YZ plate will fit?? Might have to do something with the huge odo/computer to make it work though.

The plate won't ever look right unless you remove computer and relocate the on/off button. I useda piece of 1.5" angle aluminum for a bracket, used the two screws from bottom bracket into the two computer holes.same thread and screw size. The plate was flush, and looked like stock eom.

I think the light the Aussies had in the video looks cool. Or fit a2011 on it. Anything but that horrendous one that comes on it. What were they thinking? Pretty sure none of us said on the questionnaire from Yamaha, "we want it to handle better, big tank, lighter, SSS forks, FI......oh and btw, throw on a big ugly headlight on there too,"

the first things I would do is remove front headlight and that terrible speedo wire on the right side leg, then rear light and overflow jug, light weight Li Ion battery and a full FMF exhaust system. That would probably be close to 10 lbs off. Then YZ cams, hi comp piston, porting/polishing and race gas......ah fack, I'll just ride my YZ. Is there some way possible to get E start onto the new YZ??? Then I could get rid of the high maintenance Rekluse. If not, I'm probably in for a 13 (or left over 12) as well and just move it closer to a YZ now that it has a proper frame and suspension components.

My old 07 WR had really low footpegs and cases. I was hanging up on everything. Does this new bike have more clearance? My 11 YZ has high pegs and I love it and I'm 6'3", the clearance is great for nasty tech stuff. I just put tall bars on and was done with it.

It's a big ugly headlight but it sure as hell works great. I've ridden in the dark with it for a about 2-3 hours between a few different rides that we started late in the day just to make them more interesting. Works pretty good and has great output. Gave you enough distance at speed to not worry about obstacles.

I'm with you A X E, I am 225 with gear also, and my sag was almost spot-on from the factory... I went ahead and had everything re-sprung for my weight per KYB specification and re-valved, and now the suspension is just amazing. The little bit of wallow in the front end is gone, and the rear shock is extremely compliant, but a real PITA to try and bottom out. Love this suspension!
