5 posts in this topic

I am looking at buying a 2010 yzf 450. I will be using it in woods, hill climes and single trac does anyone ride. one and how does it handle compard to a 08 KTM 300. I am 230lbs and have ben rideing for 30 years. I ride a 08 KTM 300 but it handls like crap I had Trail tricks do the suspentin and it did not fix the turning problem. I rode a 08 CRF 450 and loved the way it turned. I am thinking of buying the YZF 450, but I don't know how it will be in the woods. does anyone know how to fix my 300, or how the yzf handles.

I prefer the way a 4t rides, I feel it turns better, is more stable, has more usable power especially for my weight (103kg), I have just bought a 2011 to race off road and I think with minimal work it will be an exceptional bike

I'm in the same boat - could not sort out the KTM for woods riding. The handling was strangely better on the MX track. Just got a leftover '11 YZ450F and after one ride I was wondering why I wasted my time and money on trying to make the KTM turn. All I could get from the "experts" was "is your static sag at 38mm?" I'm looking forward to the 2012 season - I think it's going to be a good year in hare scrambles!

I can't compare for you but I can tell you that I ride a 2010 mostly woods and its amazing. It really benefits from heavy flywheel and auto clutch. Other than that the stock suspension is great in the woods so good infact that I'm afraid to have it revalved as it works so good for me.
