"99 YZ400F Master Cylinder Swap?

3 posts in this topic

I'm lucky I still have a hand right now,the tree came quick and I took my hand off the bar.I got thrown off the bike,I brushed myself off but my front master cylinder is demolished.

The question.

Will a master cylinder from a '99 CR250 work? They are both dot 4,the only difference I see is the brake line bolts to the back rather than the front but it reaches.Any issues? They are both dual piston calipers so I would imagine the master cylinder would work.Anyone?

Not sure it'll work or not,but if you have one sitting around might as well try it. If it doesn't work check e-bay for one.

I put it on last night and I actually like how the master cylinder sits lower on the bars,it puts the lever in a better position as well.I topped off the fluid and bled the line this morning and took it for a spin.It works great. That could've been really expensive if I hadn't had that laying around.

I actually have and entire '99 CR250 laying around, everything but the frame. It had factory connection suspension front and rear that was tuned for my weight.I wish that stuff would bolt up.
