Choke & hot start seized

My son's 03 450 has a seized choke knob and hot start. Most likely from a trip to the beach this summer. I am thinking the carb needs to be soaked in some sort of oily stuff for a day or so. Any suggestions that won't eat the choke knob and nut?

I would try wd40. I learned that if you have carbon build up on your valves and head, you make sure the valves are closed and then fill the head with wd40. The next day the rock hard carbon will wipe right off. May work for this scenario.

I'm a fan of Tri-flow. The only issue I see with WD40 is that it will dry out any seals/O-rings that it comes in contact with.

PB Blaster penetrating oil and HEAT..... Those plungers get corroded and are not fun to get out. Just be careful...those carbs are expensive to replace.

I have had the same problem from time to time. WD40 worked just fine. IT may take a little while for it to penetrate fully but stick at it and they will free up.

It is possible to buy OEM choke and hot start assemblies if so required.
