250sx power valve springs

7 posts in this topic

Just got a 2012 250 sx, and was wondering if anybody on here has tried the other springs and wonder how much of a differnce they make.

At our personal track when we don't groom the ground gets really hard and slippery , thought about trying the mild spring for that, and maybe give the more radical one a try at red bud.

Bust mostly just curious if anybody here has tried the other springs.

I've used the mid and aggressive and if your gonna used the aggressive hang on, it turns into an animal. I swapped to the richer needle first and it gave it more power also... don't forget about the timing wire it makes it a little more managable. it only takes about 5 minutes to change out the springs so play around with it until you find what you like.

I'd like to know how to adjust more than just the color of the spring. I keep reading about turning a screw for further adjustment but can't find it anywhere in the manual.

i love the green spring on my 2011 250 sx. it softens the hit and makes it more "electric" and tractor like. i didnt notice the springs as much on my 300 but big difference on the 250sx. i am not that good at tracks and this really helped out. i just added a tooth to the rear and added a shorty silencer and it pulls higher gers out of corners, is more smooth, and i dont have to shift as much. pros may not like it. mxa likes the red spring and procircuit pipes/silencers.

I switched from the yellow spring to the red on the last ride. I don't have a lot of time on the bike yet and the time between rides was a couple weeks. Hard for me to notice a difference without testing back to back. I know the biggest difference was felt from opting for the richer needle, 160 main, and air screw adjustment. Bottom end was cleaned up and pulls better now.

Now what do you turn to adjust the powervalve!!!!!!

Another big difference between the 250sx and your 300 was the cid box. If your 300 had the 250 sx cid box you would have found a big increase there too...:)
